Season 2024 - Hawthorn

Chol is lazy and softer than a wet paper bag. We don’t need anymore of those types

Yeah, so. Turns out modern coaching and cutting deep and rebuilding can begin to work. Who would’ve thunk it.

And a certain poster was adamant this week that Hawthorn hasn’t surged past us. Tonight’s performance against the Crows on their home deck should prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Even if we did it wont work club is damaged beyond repair

We’ll never know that though, because we’ve never tried it, or when we did sort of start to maybe try it in 21/22, the pain of one year in 2022 was enough to tear it all up.

Dont need to try it I know it wont work

Day was pick 13 in the National draft and I have him slightly ahead of Durham at this stage but they are both superb players

I agree with you that Day shades Durham.
The comparison is a good one.
Day 2nd year in the midfield, Durham 1st.

Without checking, their ages would be very close.

As the hawks go past us at a rate of knots, even if they don’t play finals, they know where their list is at and have given games to plenty of kids. We’ll head to Arizona over summer, media will talk it up, then we’ll roll out the same old players looking fit as ever but with zero ticker or $hits about digging in when it gets tough. So predictable! Now is the time to play some kids and at least show us something to look forward too

The key difference is that they play like they enjoy their footy and it’s clear to anyone with a set of eyes that they are a connected group. They look like they’re having fun and enjoying each other’s company.

A lot of young players with spark and egos…that’s the future of the game imo. Speed, intensity, fun

Hawks players have a bit of ■■■■ about them. Across the whole list. How many Essendon players have any ■■■■ about them? Sammy Durham, Caddy, Caldwell, that’s it really. The rest is a fairly meek and bland collection of personalities, never mind footballers. It’s institutional, and it’s down to the list manager. A bunch of choirboys.

Said it before and will say it again, reckon Sam Mitchell is coach of the year and is building something special, they have a poor list hawthorn but he’s getting every bit of talent out of them and has got them playing as a team and enjoying their footy

They’ve got serious gaps, but it’s not a poor list.
Plenty of pieces in place to build around.

We’ve had this discussion before though.

The unconditional love for Hawthorn in this forum of late makes me sick.

As much as I hate them more than any club, except for Fark Carlton, they are a god and exciting team at present. Might do some serious harm if they stay in eight and seeing who they play in the two final rounds will.

They might end up fifth.

I think they’ll get smacked in finals. Nothing against them, they’ve done an incredible job this year and have so much scope to keep getting better. I just think they’ve got a little ahead of themselves.

Gee I hope you’re right!
I would however back them to take the Dogs in a final cos they pick and choose when to go like us.

Hopefully Hawks get Geelong or Giants as I think they struggle against them most.

Interesting if Hawks can get guys like Chol backing it up next year, as he’s had good years at Rich and GC only to fall away.

Either way there list build to bring in good pressure players, Gini, Watson, Moore and MacDonald has completely taken a dump on our build.

This really is quickly evolving into the season from hell isn’t it.

The only saving grace would be if Carlton and Collingwood both miss out on the 8.
