Is LDU a RFA this year or next year?
AFL site doesn’t have him as a RFA this year so how is north getting pick 1 and 2 this year?

which is basically the entirety of their plan.
much like carlton and melbourne before them north have gone all out to completely tank, but they were unlucky with JHF (who is exactly who they actually needed) and due to their own stupidity they cost themselves Reid who just like he is at west coast, would have been an absolute game changer for them.
carlton messed it up with gibbs, murphy and kreuzer but eventually got it right with weitering and walsh.
likewise melbourne screwed up with scully and trengove but eventually got it right with jackson, oliver and petracca.
unfortunately if north stay down the bottom for long enough, they will eventually get it right.

That Hardwick bloke goes alright.
I had a look at North’s drafting record from 2010 to 2019.
North had 24 first or second round picks in that period. Only 5 of them are still on their list (McDonald, Simpkin, LDU, Comben and Mahoney). What a horrible return
In comparison 11 of the 19 players Essendon selected from 2010 to 2019 are still on our list

Our need for LDU not as great now Perkins and Durham have developed.
But would be a lot better pickup than Zurharr.
I’d take him if he was available. He has the sort of burst from stoppage we need to balance things out a bit better, even if you take into account Durham.

Is LDU a good tackler and defensive runner? If not definitely do not want.

My main concern with LDU would be injury prone

It’s not all bad.
McKercher looks every bit as good as Reid. Don’t know why he hasn’t got Rising Star.
Duursma looks like a better version of Jack Gunston. Unstoppable already.
Pink is being compared to Steven Silvagni and rightly so.
Biggie’s intercepting mark stats are comparable to McGovern from WC.
Powell is the best handballer since Greg Williams.
Curtis looks like he’ll end up with more goals than Stephen Milne.
What a list. It’s really not fair for the rest of the competition.

He’s well within his rights to wait and see.
This is a club with a losing culture. It’ll take some time to reverse. This is what is always at risk if you go young too early. Carlton learned it and missed a generation of players (Gibbs, Kruez and Murphy) and now North are experiencing it. You hope it pays off, but it doesn’t always pay off. Regardless of who is coaching the team.

McKercher will be a good midfielder like a Parish/Merrett. Reid will be a match winner like Dusty/Hird. Actually, he already is!

I watched NM vs Freo from ground level. McKercher is so much like first year Zach Merrett.
He takes ground before kicking. Similar running gait. Smart ball user.
He won’t be a scratch on Harley Reid but he will be a very good player.
It will be interesting how much he gets when he goes to Tassie
