Sydney Swans veteran Luke Parker could be staring down the barrel of a lengthy suspension following an off the ball hit in the VFL.

During Friday night’s contest against Frankson, the Swans star ran past the ball and elected to bump opponent Josh Smith.

The brutal second half bump floored Smith and left him crumpled up on the turf of Kinetic Stadium.

The hit came more than five metres off the ball as play was brought to a halt shortly after as trainers helped Smith from the field.

The Frankston player was sent to hospital after suffering serious facial injuries as a result of the hit from Parker.

The Herald Sun’s Jon Ralph wrote: “This doesn’t look good for Luke Parker. You bump, you are responsible for the contact. Frankston’s Josh Smith sent to hospital with a cheekbone injury.”

Any suspension handed down will mean Parker’s potential return to the AFL will be delayed having failed to crack Sydney’s side after a solid month with the reserves side.

If Webster got 7, this hit deserves similar.

Where are all the Swans fans now that called Peter Wright a thug? You absolute smooth brains.

‘Fair bump, footy has gone soft, it was a head clash etc’

If you bump, and the other player sustains a head injury like that, you will get weeks.

Not sure why it is taking some fans so long to wrap their heads around it.

It was also off the ball, so not really even a footy act.

Yeah, ‘it was a shepherd!’

“Faux toughness”

7 weeks…but downgraded for “Good Bloke Status” and “Sydney Player Auto Discount” and “Member of AFL Love Child Team”

Equals…4 weeks for the Frankston bloke AFTER he recovers from his injuries.

Got a love/hate thing with Luke Parker.

Would be most pleased to see someone flatten him. Good ol’ fashioned, clean shirt front. Not knocked out but enough to just fail a concussion test.

Tom Papleys thoughts on the incident?

Apparently the VFL don’t use the same system as the AFL so it’s likely to be 2 weeks according to Edmund.

surely more than 2 weeks

I know the injuries matter but i don’t think it’s that bad as far as actions go.

Yeah it isn’t a patch on Websters.

But you take the risk when you bump someone. 4-5 weeks I’d say.

FFS we have to beat the chickens because they’re being placed in the same sentence with our 2000 team.
the chickens do have good mids, but FFS their backs & forwards don’t qualify to tie shoelaces for our 2000 megastars.
