I agree. McRae is often a brilliant kick. He takes on those challenging kicks on the 45 and nails them more often than not.
Malthouse is a creep
He may have just been frustrated with his own performance and not dissenting the decision to sub him.
I think he’ll be told he’s never to repeat that behavior or else he can have a stint in the VFL, but otherwise, it won’t be a huge issue.
No Mick, you just can’t treat the powderpuff jellyfishes these days like that…
It’s the more nuanced way.
Let him vent, speak to him privately and calmly tell him that his actions meant more to others than what was intended.
No need to drop him to VFL to teach him a lesson. It’ll could just create a Jason Horne Francis situation where he forces a trade.
You think Mick would YELL AND SCREAM at him?
On a side note.
Who da ■■■■ did Libba or Bevo think they were kidding trying to play off Libba’s collapse as a rolled ankle?
Libba will regret what he said at his interview with the ABC after the match.
Responding to the interviewer’s comment about Parish’s good deed in helping him to his feet, he added that it probably saved him a couple of games ( after saying he had a dodgy ankle).
Mick Malthouse should just fark right off to whatever rock he lives under.
That comment just screams "look at me…I’m still relevant "
What a terrible thing it is when a 19yo kid gets frustrated at being subbed out of a game.
Surely such behaviour is a sign of the approaching apocalypse!!!
I’d rather a young player who got subbed out in a close contest threw a water bottle in frustration than didn’t care.
I’m not so sure. You want every player on the same page and ideally doing what ever the coach asks from them on the field. An 18 year old in their first season shouldn’t be having tantrums on the bench. But as a coach you don’t want to over react and have another JHF situation.
There was talk of unrest at the Dogs before the game on Friday night and I’m hearing that a lot of their supporters want Beveridge gone. He’s definitely made some strange decisions so far this season, including making Bailey Dale the sub against us. Just as an aside, is Dale gettable? 130-odd games, good turn of speed and a very good field kick. The sort of player that would allow us to get Martin back on the wing…
If you look at the video, it does look bad. Nothing to do with any ankle problems, like a sad old man stumbling to the ground. I know the feeling.
Hope Libba gets good medical advice and doesn’t listen to Bevo.
Pretty sure he’s on a long-term deal. I dare say he outlasts Bevo.
What it comes down to for me is the direction you’d rather see a mistake from a first year player, and for me I think overall it’s better if they’re too invested in the contest than not enough. It’s a sport where people want players who would rather go to hospital than back out of a contest, where they are encouraged to play every second of every quarter until they throw up from exhaustion, where there are back page articles when players aren’t seething from anger when they lose, where they’re expected to fly the flag if someone goes after a team mate, where the most common thing people identify as the difference in teams is who wants it more.
It’s a sport where, in short, aggression and passion are two of the most highly prized attributes a player can have. People complain when players look like they don’t give a ■■■■, then when a young player looks like he gives a ■■■■ for a few moments after getting pulled in a close game, suddenly he’s supposed to be the stoic professional. I think most people would want him to be frustrated, let him stew on it, do everything he can to prove to the coaches that they should have left him on with the game on the line. I’m not condoning players chucking an extended wobbly every time something doesn’t go their way, but I’d rather a player who’s angry that he’s not playing when the game’s on the line than a player who agrees the team’s better off with him in the vest.
JUH not playing tomorrow night for personal reasons.
That will do it for me to change my tip
Is that like “awareness” under the AFL’s current rules or genuine?
Must be due to booking a tour of The Hangar.
