Yeah the Naughton extension is weird. He’s the obvious one to ship because he has an obvious suitor. You’d think they’d have tried to get West Coast to pony up for him.
If they lose Tim English and ditch Rory Lobb, the issues probably take care of themselves.
Darcy plays more ruck. JUH and Naughton as the big forwards. Croft has time to develop.

Agreed there is clearly some element of truth to it for him to go to air with it (whether it is connections talking to him from the WB or heard through teammates at the club) …
But yeah … he should have kept it to himself.

Today was typical of a team that’s checked out on the coach IMO. You don’t lose games to a bottom placed West Coast late last year, when your season is on the line, and drop a game to a Hawthorn team that had been putrid and uncompetitive if you’re all in with the coach…

When you have massive off-season change and the coach remains, if there aren’t results there’s no prizes for guessing who is going to be next on the chopping block. I understand they would’ve wanted to give him an opportunity, especially with another 2 years (before the start of this season) on his contract. But what they did is in essence a vote of no confidence in him. I can see it unraveling fairly quickly. They have Richmond next week (MCG). They drop that one and I can see them giving him the flick…

Reading between the lines of his presser there’s obvious acrimony between him and the players. Him pointing out that his defensive tactics worked, while blaming the loss on players skill errors is pretty incredible. The situation seems untenable now.

They are reporting that he passed all the tests required after that head knock. The accidental kick that drew blood apparently didn’t affect him either.
I think it needs some ‘very’ expert medical advice.
