Season 2025 - Essendon

all 10 of gorf’s fanbase would be delighted if they went 1-22 , with that win against us

With THE WARLORD getting through without his hamstring disintegrating

20+ years of failure does that!

I am usually quite positive each and every year, disagree with all the pundits predictions of low table finishes or mid table mediocrity, but they always get it fairly spot on and we are always left disappointed!

I’ve just realised we play them on a Thursday night. We might actually kill Thursday night footy.

no idea why the idiots at afl house scheduled that game for a thursday night.

I think were sort of on the right track but are in for a couple more years of pain as we turn over this list. Got "better " people in and invested more but still lacking the quality and star factor.

Also am not sure if everyone at the club is completely aligned, even though there’s been a reality check the last 2 seasons, it feels like their are still board members and others who have their head in the sand , and think we don’t need to rebuild or bottom out being a “big club”

7 or 8 wins and a finish in 15th place imo.

Much the same in 2026 with an even younger list as another 7 or 8 of the deadwood are moved on.

Expect and hope for some green shoots in 2027.

I dunno. The CEO at the AGM was pretty non-committal about expectations in 2025, and spent a bit of time emphasising how much the list has been turned over.

I suspect, without saying it, there may be a view we are about to cop our whack before we start to go forward.

We will be bottom 4.

Just not enough good players, yet. Questionable coaching, development and team selection are major issues that need to be addressed.

My hopes for this year is hoping our youngsters can have a big year, players like Caddy, Kako, Tsatas, SEH, Roberts, Bryan, Reid, Davey - maybe even a surprise like unwin.

Apart from that, its hard to see where our improvements are going to come from, especially if injuries hit again.

Yh I meant coteries and that lot. CEO & Matt Rosa know where we’re at. Whispy Dave thought we could get more out of the list with an experienced coach but he’s realised now.

We’re too good not to win at least 1 every 3 games.
Therefore, I can’t see us with less than 8 wins unless injuries are brutal.

Hopefully it’s not much more than 8 as the lowest finish possible is essentially what we need.
Brad has to tweak that game style.
Valuing time in possession…I don’t like it.

We need to pull back on such an aggressive forward press.
We aren’t smart enough, or good enough to score from repeat entries with a crowded forward line…

I’m not against Shiel being used as a creator off HB as long as it amounts to a more defensive, sweeper on the last line role for McGrath.
I’d like him leg roped to McKay.

Draper is a lock if fit.
Therefore only play 1 of 2mp/Bryan.

12th - 16th for mine.
16th would require Gorth to start winning games though

Sadly this is the only part of your prediction that will actually happen

Too much talent to win less then 8 games imo we would have to to be ravaged by injuries to key players to finish below the likes of North,WC,Richmond.

I think we will have a similar season to 2024 but hopefully this time it will be different where we can see the upward trajectory by seasons end.

We win a final this season.

That would be great who knows it might release the shackles and we go even better in 2026

Guys like Papley, Rayner, Bolton and Greene would have the Bombers game circled as a stat padder when they know Shiel will be playing on them…

If Brad Scott wins a final this year, he likely goes down as the best Essendon coach post Sheedy.

They’re more likely to have McGrath playing on them, with Shiel being released to rebound.
