Season 2025 - Essendon

8 wins is my rough prediction. That should have as at 15th or potentially a couple of spots higher if clubs like St Kilda keep sustaining injuries.

This is also perfectly fine IF we play the right players. The U22 brigade need to be given games way sooner than they have been so far under Scott.

That’s not really a high bar.

Personally, I can’t see us losing a game this year…*

(* I may have moved interstate and thus not able to see games)

These folks saying we’re too good to not get 8 wins… I think we’re absolutely ■■■■ enough to win less than 8.

The game continues to get faster and rely on either a skill style gameplan (tried and failed) and/or speed on the ground (which we lack).

He won’t be playing on them though.

Better than last year, top 6.

Less then WC and Tigers?

If he’s playing at half back he’s going to have to defend players at some point though yeah?

I don’t think either of those win more than 7… but I think we’re just better than West Coast and who knows how Richmond’s youngsters will fare.

11 games in 2023
11 games in 2024

We might not get to that many wins again but I cant see us with less then 8 we would have to completely ■■■■ the bed play worse then tigers,wc,north

I’m tipping 7-9 wins

I feel this way too. Exceptional years from all of draper Bryan Langford Kako Reid Durham tsatas and Shiel in combination with at least stable form from a host of others might have us sneaking into finals

I think 14 teams can win 14+ games. All comes down to injuries and some luck of the draw.
Good health and disposal efficiency and we’ll have a good year.
Nitpicking; Reid 20+ games, five 40+ point wins, someone to have a better season than Merrett.

Yes, we’ll employ a system whereby someone covers for him.
It won’t always work.

Ultimately, it will come down to Net Gain/Loss.
How many scores will he contribute to by being a loose creator, countered by how many scores conceded by his poor defensive play.

He will need to be very good to justify the move, but he does have some attributes despite what some posters are saying.
He has wheels, and he has a powerful leg which means he will clear zones and place opposition defenders under pressure.

I’ve said previously, is there any point to the move given his age and our standing ?
Nonetheless, if it forces McGrath to occupy the oppo’s best small forward, and keep him closer to defensive goal, I can see a benefit.

Going to be interesting to see what the coaches do with our defence.

Beat Saints x2 GC x2,Pies AD,Crows last season would have given us 16 wins and possibly locked in a top 6 spot and a home final talks would have been different this year

What a waste of a season

Don’t play that game Nino.

We were fkn lucky to beat St.K, Adel.
Richmond and WC x 2 ran us pretty close.

Hawthorn’s midfield was woeful earlier in the season which is the only reason we took the points Rd.1 (scores from CB Clearances).
If they kick a little straighter, they may have won the game.

Freo should have beaten us also !

Dosen’t matter would have still been our most succesfull season since Sheedy if it panned out my way

But all other 17 teams could create the same Fantasy. Its pointless.

Even when it pans out (Coll '22 H&A), it catches up eventually ('22 Finals)

My point at the end of the day is we threw away what could have been a very good season
