We’ll finish somewhere from 12-16th. Im ok with that
So just play the kids!!!

Bottom four for mine.
Poor defensively.
No forward line.
Injuries will hit hard.
Post bye fade out.
Percentage under 98%.
This is reality. Don’t be deluded.
I was hoping for 7-12th and a percentage above 100
But… ridley and parish are our 2nd and 3rd best players and they don’t look like they’ll even be going by round one
So I think I agree with you
Play the kids, I don’t want to see Dylan shiel trying to learn to play hbf, I want to develop our young talent and give them experience
Actually, it’s not that much different to how I see it.
I’d have PA and Syd in the second row, FARK CARLTON in the third, and switch Adelaide with St.Kilda as who knows.
Spot on. We’ve suddenly an abundance of options, albeit young, at HBF. I don’t want to see Shiel, or Martin for that matter, playing off of HBF.
Another 10 to 14th finish on the cards for mine.
We’ll play some decent footy at times but injuries will stack up, the depth of talent will be exposed and we’ll cop some beltings.
I’m ok with all of the above so long as this is this is a year of more radical development of our younger players.
Tsatas to the center square
Roberts and SEH to play plenty of seniors.
Hobbs to get a run of games in his actual position.
Bryan to become a regular fixture.
Hayes to get a good look
Reid and Caddy to play all they can
And the VFL team to grow into a more professional and competitive unit.
With these low expectations I’m actually looking forward to the year ahead.
Caddy, Kako & Tsatas could be smokies to make the 22 under 22.
At least in the Scott interview he said Tsatas position is inside mid.
Hopefully that means we give him a proper crack at his true position and see what he can produce.
Im excited to see what the young man can do
Where did he play his best games last year ?
Then he was moved forward sort of
He either was playing injured or just run out of steam in the last few weeks he wasn’t played to advantage …
This is the problem the coach thinks we can play multiple players multiple positions
No for me
Stumbled across it randomly last year and glad I did. There is a bit of a Roy & HG vibe about it. Well done @MattyKnights
I’m tired of hearing this. If Dylan Shiel is having an exceptional year and doing a job off the HBF then why does he not deserve his place? If it’s simply a case of play the kids no matter how good or bad they are, then we may as well have delisted Shiel. We didn’t so therefore he has every right to play if his form warrants it.
I don’t think the results in 2025 are that important if we’re playing a young team. There are a lot of players on our list who have some way to go in reaching their potential, and as long as we have caddy, kako, reid, tsatas, roberts, etc playing then we are moving forward because these are the ones to drive the club forwards
If Dylan Shiel has an exceptional year and becomes an AA HBF, and then adds another 5 years onto his career with his new lease of life, then that would be a massive win. But no-doubt people will still be complaining that he is getting a game ahead of the kids.
If the experiment fails, then so be it - drop him and put a kid in his place. But if he is playing well, and helps the team play well, then he deserves his spot.
Bottom 4 with plenty of games to Tsatas, Bryan, Caddy, Kako, Roberts, SEH, Reid, Perkins, Hobbs, Hayes, Cox, Davey and who knows maybe Unwin, Johnson and ADW
That’s a good season for mine, hope the Dees and Saints suck, hit the draft again. Let’s do it properly.
Re Shiel, IMO he’s really the only first-choice player on the list likely to get games who’ll be gone at the end of the year.
Laverde is the other one, depending on what happens with McKay/Rids/Reid and how much Hayes improves. I highly doubt Goldstein is in the mix unless we get really desperate.
I can stomach one ‘clogger’ (Shiel) getting games this year, so long as they’re genuinely earning their spot & we’re still getting plenty of development into kids along the way.
I reckon I’ve got two years in me of buckling up and copping us being crap and doing that properly (i.e. give youth responsibility at every opportunity and finish bottom 4) and then I’d want and expect to become a relevant football club again from 2027 onwards. If we fark this latest rebuild/regeneration/list revamp up then heaven help us.
Shiel has enough left in the tank to go another 3 years imo, no way he’s ready to retire.
Whether we’re the club to give him those years (single year deals) is the question.
*Laughs in Brad Scott *
Wright? Are you joking? My goodness.
He’s arguably the least agile player in the competition. He is a liability when he doesn’t mark it because he has zero acceleration and it takes him about six months to get up off the ground after a contest.
Moves like the Titanic.
