If I was dealing with off-field issues and wanted to choose a club with a recent track record of excellent player welfare management, I too would choose the melbourne demons.

Shouldn’t be too hard if Pickett wants to go to Freo as reported.
That would actually be an interesting situation though as I reckon both clubs would kind of do the usual thing and dig their heels in a bit and say that their player is worth slightly more and so they expect a player (Pickett/Jackson) and a pick.
Straight player swaps are as rare as hens teeth nowadays but this could be as close to fair as you’d get if it happened. Like IMO Pickett is perhaps slightly the better player but Jackson being a rarer commodity as an athletic ruckman who can rest forward probably compensates for that to make things evens.

Why do we assume that Jackson wants to only go back to Melbourne FC?
Probably prefer to head to Hawks or Collingwood or Geelong like the rest of them.
With Gawn nearing retirement, there is an opportunity to be full time ruckman soon.
