Season 2025 - North Melbourne

“Michael Wundke”.

I also think I must have been watching a lot of VFL around 2006-2010 cos half the names I remember played single digit AFL games or none at all!

How soft do you have to be as a club to ban someone from interviews.

There’s a lot of closet Norf fans outing themselves in this thread :flushed:

Yep complete ■■■■.

Sheezle is a jet. Doesnt matter if he has 10 or 30 touches.

With the “ex player pile on”, “pressure on the coach “, peanut gallery slagging their players.

I think it’s a bit of a wind up to try and ensure Thursday night footy isn’t a dud and actually a good game.

One issue is what Cornes says isn’t too far removed from the rubbish sporting discourse that commonly occurs.
Extreme takes and projections have become more important than the game the game itself.
And there is a heavier focus on what sportsmen don’t do well than what they actually do well.
So he’s attracting a decent group of people who like that kind of discourse. He knows exactly what he’s doing and who it is addressed to.

The other issue is that it also attracts the opposite point of view. Just like Caroline Wilson.

Unfortunately, we’ve now taken another step towards the American discourse of sports. We went from a 24 hour radio sports talk show and 3 television shows centred around the ‘drama of sport’ (lets face it, they do an analyse of the plays, but they stick closer to rubbish drama) to the 24 hour radio show and 2 nightly shows during the week. It’ll only going to keep trending towards that way.

I exclude Fox Footy shows. AFL360 doesn’t go to the extremes Cornes or Wilson go to. They actually do a good job of providing context without being ‘click baity’ (the umpiring segment is great and so is the coaches segment are a good example). The Couch is similar. King does sprinkle some of it on First Crack, but it does a good job of analysis.

I enjoy Cornes. He isn’t always right but at least he puts something out there. He is right about Sheez as well. Has gone backwards in how damaging he is. This might be the first time this year anyone at North has actually played the man. They are soft and gutless.

Ya know… beyond employing every bastard who’s ever walked within 20 metres of Arden St, there are an awful lot of similarities between Norf and modern day Essendon…

And this is the exact problem with “journalism” in the 21st century.

He’s not a journalist.

Hence the quotation marks

If they are banking on that it’s even worse

Instead of using it as fuel/motivation they put a media ban like a bunch of ■■■■■■■ lols.

Hope we flog them

Lol.
