Somewhat related to this… the owner of a company who supplies to ours is a lifelong Carlton supporter and quite wealthy and a bachelor so he has a FK ton of money.
He’s had his will drawn up for quite a while and because he has no family of his own and he loves Carlton he had locked in to leave all (or just about all) his fortune to the club but there was some incident that occurred last year where he felt completely disrespected by the club (can’t recall the exact details) and so he took them out of his will completely. I call that a win

I mean channel 7 news is just whatever will generate the most clicks. Collingwood trying to write their ways into people’s wills will do just that.
It sounds like a horrible practice. I can’t believe they send out letters asking people to do it.
Heaps (if not all?) of charities, churches, schools & hospitals do the same.

Pretty long list of clubs doing it… obviously the Sam Mitchell will speak & Mrs Mitchell will cater at your wake package is most vile. But Bombers aren’t missing this trick.

The issue that was raised yesterday is Collingwood were incredibly vile in directly marketing there’s to older members. YES other clubs do have a bequeath society but to.my knowledge its never been mass marketed.

My take: it’s in poor taste and I’d be a bit perturbed if I received the letter as a Collingwood member. The media reaction, however, has been wildly over the top. For crying out loud, Seven News led with it last night. Ridiculous.

Asking almost dead people to rewrite their wills to include a football club, is vile.
I understand that members over the age of 50 received the letter – and there’s certainly plenty of life left in that broad segment of the supporter base. I wouldn’t go so far as to call it vile, but perspectives will naturally differ. In any case, the club has issued an apology, which is the right course of action.
That’s great grandmother/father age for Collingwood supporters

Received the news today
Nick daicos will be seriously considering an offer from tassie, they’re throwing him a 5 million deal.. the pies apparently have the next 12 months to decide whether to keep him or not… big season ahead for the maggies. Its the reason why they will be aggressive next off season at trade period.
He is unhappy with the club too. Watch this space.
