They wanna be like the new Geelong but I don’t think it’s gonna happen, young sides like Gold Coast and Brisbane will slaughter them
Tough luck getting anything out of that group of fans when half of them can’t even afford basic dental surgery
Sheesh.
WTF. Essendon has taken enough from me in life, now they want something in death??
They’ll be selling coffin spaces somewhere in tulla soon. Get an EFC themed headstone and a memorial photo for your family in which Dyson Heppell does a shakas over your gravesite.
I think The Hangar is cursed enough as it is. No need for that.
A little less intrusive if it’s simply on the website and the club isn’t actively marketing it. Seems as if Collingwood have mailed out to members of a certain age as part of a targeted campaign…
HEY ELDERLY MEMBERS SEEING AS YOU’RE GUNNA KICK THE BUCKET SOON HOW’S ABOUT SOME CASH WHEN THAT HAPPENS.
■■■■■■■ scum club.
Its actually a nice thing to have, but not the sort of thing you want to be directly marketing.
I’d be surprised, very surprised, if Collingwood is the only club who does this. I’d expect most (if not all) clubs to have some level of trying to actively recruit members to bequest money in their will.
Might not be a letter, could be a phone call, could be someone sitting down for a chat at a club function etc. But again, I suspect most if not all clubs do it.
There’s just something about that that feels ■■■■■■■ gross.
As long as it isn’t coercive, I think it is fine.
If someone has been a 50 year member, the club is probably pretty important to them, so they might want to leave some money to the club. If the club then has capacity to help facilitate it or explain how it will help, I think that is a win for all parties.
Hmmmmm i get your point, I do, but i think it should be something that if the person wants it, they are ones to reach out.
Being proactive in asking the dead for money is the kinda ■■■■ churches do.
I think Pies can do a Lakers type strategy. Go all in when you’re contending, and if it falls apart, so be it. They will always be able to attract players, even if they are a bottom team.
It’s one thing to have it set up as a scheme for people to proactively buy into, it’s another thing to send out an email informing your members about it.
I think it’s something completely different to have targeted outreach to select members of your club based on age, not membership duration, which is what this appears to be.
Feels pretty gross to me
I look forward to essendon carrying my coffin when i die, that way they can let me down one last time
From the club website:
Pies fans and Lakers fans all share the same brain cell, so they also have that in common…
We should open a crematorium and turn the deceased members into little EFC pendants for their families.
Is being coercive only target mailing members aged 70 Plus? I really hope this is what they did
