Just a group of like 10-15 Vic based guys doing run throughs and circle work together at a local park with David Buttifant while the other 30 odd blokes train in Tassie?
Seems pretty unsustainable and very poor for culture and team chemistry.
Theres no way they let that happen. They’ll be non-competitive and the media will tear them and the AFL to shreds over it. its practically the AFL burning money. Just a really half-arsed way to run a footy club
They might be non competitive anyway. This player manager said that he has heard that plenty of players have said they have zero interest in going to Tassie unless they get way, way overs
Nope, he said the AFL has had serious discussions about it. This was about 12 months ago.
Maybe the AFL has come to their senses and seen what a hare brained scheme it was and that it won’t happen but he was 100% about the fact the AFL had discussed it. I posted it at the time too.
I don’t get it from a player POV. Hobart on afl wages would be an awesome place to live! House on the beach and probably unknown at the local supermarket. Dream gig!
Not really about just coke, but there are significant lifestyle factors that footballers (and not just footballers) enjoy that is largely missing in Hobart compared to other states.
So the Pies are now in direct competition with charities, hoping to redirect funds their way, away from Lifeline, RSPCA, Vinnies and Salvos, and other organizations that exist to assist the less fortunate in society. Stay classy Collingwood.
They also weren’t going to be willing to pay a lot for one, though.
They brought in Jack Buller for a third round pick (plus a fourth round pick back to them). I don’t think we would have got anywhere near the value we would have liked for Peter Wright in a trade with Collingwood.
