Season 2026 - Collingwood

There will be plenty of players who will want to move there and escape the Melbourne bubble

Yeah, but what can you spend your money on if there’s nothing to do? Online shopping?

Tasmania is great if you are 35+ and have a young family. No 24 year old will go there

Just having a look back at their drafting history. Over the last 10 drafts (not counting 2025) they have only drafted 2 players from the ND (Quaynor & McCreery) & 1 midseason pick (Long) that were not father son, are still on their list & are clear best 22. They have to be heading for a crash, please please lord of light they have to be.

Yep I’ve been saying this for the last 6 months. They haven’t found anyone via the draft. They can’t continually top up on free agents if there’s nothing left to play with. Last season they had a some super seasons out of some of their aged veterans - you can’t keep relying on this to be competitive.

If he wasn’t a father son, cashing in Daicos might be there shortest way to rebuilding. They have minimal other chips to play with now to secure decent draft picks.

See, I think they need to target a bunch of AFL players who grew up with (and long for) the country lifestyle. The Jeremy Cameron type- they are happy playing footy to pay the bills to run the farm kind of guys.

You don’t need to travel very far from Hobart to get that. No lack of spots to go fishing, hunting etc.

Tasmania is a wonderful place. I think a lot of the guys would be keen.

most players will move anywhere to get a chance to play AFL or get a 2nd chance at a career after been delisted

Quaynor was NGA

They won’t get anywhere near full value if he goes to Tassie. Please let it be true!

What’s the age range for being sentient and knowing Hobart is a better place to live than the Gold Coast? 25-65? Lines up well for him.

In Tassie?

Definitely in Hobart. Though pretty strong bikie links which the AFL won’t be happy about.

I’m still trying to figure out what these cryptic ‘lifestyle factors’ are for young blokes that are unavailable in Tas?

Am I naive to something young people do these days?

It’s just slang for party scene.

As nice as Hobart is (and it really is lovely), it doesn’t quite have the nightlife of Melbourne, Sydney etc.

It’s a quick trip to Melbourne

What are the online rumours about? I hadn’t heard anything.

False but fair I say

The dude abandoned his partner during childbirth to coach. Not surprising there are rumours about mcrae. Always seemed a looney.
