Well done Paddy Voss - 4 goals in a prelim, celebrates like Cale Hooker, got a chance at a flag.

Another “former Essendon player who wins a final before Essendon”
Has to be up to 25 players now?
Needs a best 23
Josh Jenkins was on our list in 2011, a rookie. Went on to kick 274 goals as a crow. Played a total of 150 games over 10 years.
Was let go at the end of 2011. Clearly we thought Gumby had more upside.
Almost a carbon copy of the Prancing Ponys rise to glory.
IIRC we wanted to keep Jenkins.
Adelaide just earmarked him and made him a very decent offer for a guy who had yet to debut at AFL level and so we facilitated the trade.
Whereas we actively made the decision to delist Voss and then he had to do it the hard way as a train on player over the summer at the Dockers and was eventually signed as an SSP.

Yer but Brad needed to thank Weid for coming over from the Dees.
Definitely deserved those 5 additional games after an horrendous run of form.

We were also stacked with ruckmen and our key forwards had heaps of potential. Not really the current Voss situation.

Did anyone notice that Fremantle (whose thread this is!!!) had a good win last night and are now off to Sydney to play in a preliminary final.

AI gave me this list of 20, which we can now add Voss to.
Top heavy on KPF and light on midfielders.

We won a final in 2004, how do these three fit the paradigm of “wins a final before Essendon”?

I would guess that they all played in the 2004 Grand Final…which was after our last finals win.

This table is laden with errors lol.
Richards was still at Essendon in 2005, Ryder was still at Essendon in 2013-14, Solomon was well and truly retired by 2013, Fantasia was still at Essendon in 2020.

Way too much effort to go through manually so I’ll take a couple of errors
Good to see Vossy pop up at crucial moment with a don’t argue and a goal
Hope he can kick a bag in the Grand Final

A Voss bag means a Freo premiership.
Can totally get behind that.
