Should I buy a pool?

10m is big enough for laps. Well for me it is.

Also, I don’t want to landscape, hence the pool.

Get a really nice portable dual temp swim spa.
You’ll spend anywhere from $20-40k, but have the best of both worlds.
Maybe use the balance you’ve saved to upgrade the Aurion…

I hardly drive it.

If you don’t go to the beach and you want to blow 70K (potentially plus) and up to that again in maintenance and you don’t want to landscape the yard, why did you buy that house? Sell up and find a place with a pool and the landscaping done and order a years supply of beers.

EDIT: And your wife doesn’t sound like she wants a pool either.

We live in a pretty warm part of Canada- tends to be rather dry, with a summer not to dissimilar in length to Melbourne. We went the spa route- not a swim spa just yet- and we are about
1.5-2 k’s from Lake Okanagan. Very happy, and fairly easy to maintain.
Do like the occasional cold one in the spa of an evening all year round.
Have 3 teenage girls, and they love jumping in it as well.

Watch out chillyb. You will have three teenage bomber Canadian boys knocking on the door real fast with a few six packs of Molson.

(Maybe long distance relos of Andy McGrath :upside_down_face:)

Unless they bring Moose Head they can keep knocking.
Though Andy McGrath…

paint the reflection of the pool on the window.

I’m all for the pool. And I’m gonna call it, the beach sucks. Sand in your crack. People steal your stuff. At home you’ve got your bbq and drinks right there. Clean (I assume) toilets.

DO IT!

pools are like Ex wifes, flashy feels good for the first year or two, then become very time consuming and expensive to maintain

I have a pool… living in Darwin its probably a necessary evil… especially with kids… but it is like a black hole where you are constantly pouring money into it. Everything is expensive, chemicals, water, pumps, filters etc. I just paid out 1400.00 for a new pump! Needs constant attention… whatever you do dont get a large pool.

Nice house

Thank you

178 pages in, has no one suggested a blitz pool party at @Clone_Hirdy ‘s place yet? (When said pool is complete)

Sure, but his neighbours are a nightmare.
