Skiing in Victoria

It’s as much a social gathering as any snow sports. So we’ll go anyway. But I can’t sit around playing cards and drinking for 2 days. So I’ll either take walking boots or will snowboard even if it’s just Bourke St/Baldy (or whatever it’s called).

Perhaps some late season redemption might see a little spring skiing.
Still a week away, though, there might not be much left by the time this gets here.

Buller closes Sunday. I can’t imagine Hotham will last much longer. Earliest closing for many years.

Well that’s a bit ■■■■

Unsurprisingly Baw Baw is also closing the same day.

Yep, my snow weekend has become a winter coastal weekend with the same mates. I went for a quick (and kooky) paddle last week and the water honestly felt like November…hoping to find some spots sheltered enough from the howling WNW winds.

It aint Victoria, but I’m on my first trip to Japan and Hukuba is turning it on right now. 250+cm base, cold temperatures, and 150cm snow predicted for this week. Had first tracks all over Happo One this morning and constant snowfall kept the cover nice and dry. Still coming down as I sit in my room and get ready to get nude in the onsen.

Edit: Upgrade “constant snowfall” to “farking puking down”!

It literally snowed for four days without stopping. Woke up this morning to clear skies and a nice layer of overnight top-up. We have two more days here in Hakuba and then two in Myoko before the snow part of our Japan trip is over and the sightseeing commences. With what we have had this week I don’t know if I should even bother with boarding in Australia anymore…

Sorry FG, you have been put on the banned list. At least until next month when we get to go to Madaro.
