Why not? Its what the player/s are not saying about not winning! Its not just about NOT winning! Many players won’t honestly say what they are feeling while they are contracted. Hardly any are as honest as Connor was, after he pulled the plug.
I don’t see Essendon being where I hope to be, in the next couple of years. I want a trade to a club, where I might be playing finals with a shot @ a premiership.
It may also be about not being happy with the current set up, what ever that means to them not us, to them. Players are becoming like cattle being paraded around the ring. Where would you rather be somewhere where you have a chance of fulfilling your dreams or stuck somewhere being a bottom feeder? The choice is all yours, get out while you have currency and worth to another club. How many players think like that but perhaps say nothing remotely like that? Not many.
Being a one club player is not as popular as it once was. It doesn’t mean what it once did.
Is he looking we the problems really are? Or is he just cutting the most obvious? A clean-out is a clean out. I don’t think we are having one of those.
EXZACERY!!! Find the problem and deal with the problem. Please do not take the easy way out which is usually the way this club deals with problems. No more band aids and sticky tape.
I suspect it is the older saga generation who are the problem. The younger players are trying to drive success and a change in attitude and the older ones are not buying in. Just an opinion.
After thinking about it for awhile I’ve decided I’m not going to stress anymore. All clubs have bad years and we are due a good clear-out. Some changes will be the right one and some will be wrong. As for the players, if they decide to leave rather than help the club reset then let them go. We’ll get new players who will be keen to be part of a rebuild.
That’s why the club needs to do a full rebuild now. From what i’ve heard this and next years drafts are very strong (Despite being heavily compromised) and if these older players are having the sulks because their best bud didn’t get a send off game then get what we can for them and get them out of the club.
Look what Port did to their club in 1 draft/trade period. Got rid of the sook Wingard and bought in 4 or 5 really good kids, 3 of which may be 10+ year stars.
I think there is a big gap between the older players and the younger players. I first noticed this when Goddard left. After his farewell speech both Hurley and Hooker stood up and spoke glowingly and lovingly about Goddard. But it seemed the younger players seemed a bit…meh.
Depends on who wants him or if anyone wants him. He might decide to allow the club to pay him out, if he doesn’t get any offers. He might ask for a trade back to W.A.
I reckon you could have given Beachcomber a farewell game.
Yes, I know, the fitness report saying he was fine comes from Leigh Farking Montagna, but still.
We need a culture change, yes. Not giving players like T-Bell a farewell, particularly in a dead rubber, is not part of any culture we should be aiming for.
As Ive posted previously, I just hope there’s someone of influence within the club that can sort through the symptoms and underlying causes, know which is which , and take appropriate action.
We should be picking our best 22 every week to win.
Bellchambers isn’t in our best 22 so he doesn’t get a game. This will put pressure on everyone to work extremely hard to stay in the team. I don’t know about how that fits in with culture but it would make for a more competitive team each week.
