Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

Certainly not arguing about the extra defender thing, but stats say we’re averaging more rebound 50s this year than we did last year. Problem is that they tend to be garbage and the ball comes straight back, or else we get to the forward line and miss the shot, or fluff the kick inside 50.

IDK, but I was told that early days in their careers at the club, the club identified Mercuri as a future better player than Hird, but that Hird ( not a private schoolboy) was a future leader.
The club used to have a tradition of limiting the term of a player as captain, passing the baton to another player. Bomba- O’Donnell - Hird-Lloyd.

gee we love a freeze-frame player smile after a loss to really froth at the mouth don’t we…surely people understand that there are also 150,000 freeze frames of miserable looking players that don’t get posted on twitter. It’s actually quite weird (or perhaps it’s just part of the hiss and spittle of disenchanted fandom).

I am of the thought that you need to watch them for 2-3 years to really know if they are a ‘leader’ or not.

I would say we’re averaging more this year than last year mainly because the ball is spending most of its time in our defensive 50, and every time we rebound it out, it comes straight back in.

I’d prefer a roughy like Jake Stringer. He leads into a pack and gets the ball.

jake can’t even get fit for round 1, how tf is he going to lead a team? from the stands?

Can’t be a leader if no one follows you. Doesn’t matter how many “leading teams” workshops you go to, or leadership forums, how many leadership groups you are promoted to, if people won’t follow you, you will never be a leader.
Simple really.

Or liked by the teachers.

I think in all this one of the things that has sadly proven true is that Jake Carlisle was right.

running the afl is a pr spin circle jerk job where you just paint whatever you want and sell it as gold, he’d be perfect for that job as you can manipulate numbers to again spin it anyway you want.

That role he’d be suited to.
a results based business where he is in charge of making decisions that have a direct correlation based to how the club performs in the 2 hours it matters most, is a vastly different role.
one which it has been very clear for awhile he is not suited, cos you can’t pr spin the poor end results that have eventuated under his tenure.

The entire team wasn’t fit for round 1.
They’re still not.

Sorry but you are missing the point. It’s like saying that because a five year old excels in reading or writing well ahead of his age we should still allow him to do his kindergarten year.

The fact is that in 2021 the team demonstrated a willingness to compete and was more than capable of doing so. But because we reached the finals ahead of the expected timeline we go, oh well, back to the drawing board, let’s not maybe just raise the bar, set a new challenge, push the standards even higher?? No. Our board is like, don’t rush things, let’s accept backwards steps and in doing so removes all accountability. That has been the problem with the stinkfest that has been EFC for 20 bloody years. No accountability and a pathetic acceptance of mediocrity.

We shouldn’t be celebrating making an Elimination Final and patting ourselves on the back knowing that the following year it’s ok if we’re junk because wowee, we made a bloody Elimination final.

There was a time when missing the Preliminary Final was cause for an internal review. Finishing 8th with a 50% win record should be met with complete disdain.

Please, don’t be part of the problem. Stop accepting the excuses and lack of accountability. Demand better from this club, our club and just maybe the message will seep through to the Instagram Brigade that is out playing list

its hurting that bad, that we did it again afew weeks later. its hurting darcy thst bad that he didn’t even try at times in the second half against freo (we’ve all seen the footage)

why even bother listening to the verbal diarrhoea that comes out of everyone’s mouth at the club.

we are a fkn embarrassment to the league.

You do realise that they still grade students against their appropriate developmental stages, no matter their overachievement? not against a prospective expectation. (ideally) They try their hardest to maintain consistent development, yet modern education understands the development is definitely not always linear.

If a students ahead one year, then falls back to standard developmental expectation the next year. They don’t fail them or hit panic stations lol.

Like, I get that’s just an analogy, but it’s dumb.

It’s a bloody good point. The curse of close enough is good enough. We all go into raptures for just sneaking into the 8. Forget the 8. It’s top four or bloody go home. Because yeah, their is not enough hurt when you’re winning every second week.

There was a time when this club would go into a meltdown if we didn’t finish Top 4 and now they try to tell us that a 50% win record is just fine.

Stinkfest FC

Sick of it

If this club was half as good at producing footballers of quality and integrity as it is a producing mindless marketing drivel we would have 20 Premierships by now

Yeah, and there was a time when finishing 4th meant you were 8 spots above the bottom of the ladder. Being 8 spots above the bottom of the ladder is 10th now. Times change.

Seriously, are you for real? Yes, it was just an analogy, you even acknowledge that. Yet you still feel compelled to question its validity and miss the actual point being discussed.

What chance has this club got when it’s own supporters are more interested in correcting and critiquing other people’s posts instead of

DEMANDING BLOODY BETTER

Mate, it’s not about me and what I post or my inadequate analogies

It’s about the stinkfest that is Essendon so if you want to discuss that by all means go ahead. But please, leave your petty scholarship and know it all posturing at the door.

An analogy still needs to be accurate. You’re making a comparison?

What a whole lot of unhinged waffle. ■■■■ lmao

Okay, how about this? We made finals last year for the first time in the 18 team league when an 11-11 record was enough to qualify. Typically it would put a team somewhere in the 10th-12th bracket. The fact we made finals was an quirk of other teams’ results rather than solid indication of the quality of our team.

To stretch your analogy, we weren’t in front of where a five year old should be across the historical national average, we just happened to be in a class full of glue eaters.
