Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 2, March 2022)

Port so far have shown they can defend against the dogs, in particular the kick outs and port aren’t exactly setting the world alight. might just highlight that our defensive structure (for whatever reason) might just be too technical (positioning of players) for our group to implement. Not the first time our players just haven’t had the IQ to implement the game plan

On the evidence of displayed footy IQ, are we sure that they tie their own bootlaces?

No!

There’s more to the club than the current issues and administration. Are you suggesting we should deny recognition of servants of the club over 100+ years because of what’s happening recently? We can’t celebrate the club’s past? WTF is the point of being a supporter?

Seriously cant wait until we start celebrating in another150 years. Will we be celebrating this 22 year period of utter Horse ■■■■/ mediocraty or will we still be choosing to ignore the ■■■■ and celebrate the past, which by that time will be 300 years

I think he said in presser after the win that he does

I’ve called multiple times about the fact i don’t receive the emails I should (probably a good thing), ‘should be fixed now mate’ never is. The saga showed how unprofessional the organisation is, and it was never fixed.

Michael Gleeson article in the Age is quite good. Really just lays bare the stark reality between where we are now and last year. Hard to argue with those stats. Interesting that other recruiters point out isssues like when was the last time Essendon brought in an A grade midfielder and why has this problem still not been addressed after such a long time. That our defence is too short and that players like Cox are very good but their opinion is that you would have to keep a foot on his throat to keep him performing……looks familiar to what we are seeing from him now.

It’s always interesting to track which journos say what - Mark Robinson was again pushing the likelihood of a review on 3AW last night and asked the pointed question about whether the coach could be moved on during this season

Robbo’s always one to steer the conversation away from list management, and last night along with in 360 during the week he kept referencing X

All this suggests there’s a lot of rumblings internally and some people are using their journo mates to protest themselves…

Don’t know whether it’s true but I’ve heard some personnel at the top will be cleaned out. Will be interesting.

You either stand for something or you stand for nothing.

All these mixed messages, Shield “dropped” only to be sub, play, then picked next week and now apparently we are going to play with more instinct are just pissweak moves by a pissweak club. The club has no conviction.

We are one of the laughing stocks of the competition and until we actually stand for something, nothing is going to change.

We do stand for something… mediocrity and irrelevance.

If they handed cups out for those qualities we’d be unbeatable.

Sacking people or making any change before a review, defeats the whole point of doing a review.

an external person comes in and observes what is going on at the club… then compares this with other high performing clubs. From there, recommendations are made.

Essendon don’t understand the modern midfield and what it takes for an on ball unit to actually be successful.

‘The game’ passed us in 2001 and it’s been lapping us ever since.

Absolutely, the shambles that is the VFL program completely shows up any pretense that we have the ability to consider or focus our club on development of our young list.

Includes a very interesting comment about Nik Cox.

I don’t necessarily think it’s the people in charge of the VFL program, more the resources and emphasis the club has given to the VFL.

We might have passionate and dedicated team there but if it isn’t resourced properly then it is hard to keep up with our opposition who value that development path.

It all comes back to Board and senior executives of the club and at a guess our focus has been on the Womens program.

Can we bring this recruiter in? Seems to know more about us than Dodoro

There is a typo in that, fixed below…
