Maybe so, but the rough edges has an aurora of authenticity - if the words follow through with the action. I agree that he has been part of the debacle over the past few years, but for those who know how a board works, it is based on a majority of votes. If you don’t have the numbers, it is difficult to push too hard as the factions may collude and kick you off - then you have zero say. It works similarly to any political party when it comes to a leadership challenge. I bet Barham wanted to change for a while, but had to wait for the moment when he got the numbers (just with Sheeds). Hopefully we will see the walk the talk from him. I’m not saying his is our only hope, but is the best hope we have for now.
Clarko said in his welcome to North presser with Hood sitting next to him,
“To consider coaching a club takes a hell of a lot longer than 4 days, just ran out of time, different set of circumstances different time, who knows”
If we made our pitch two weeks ago he was ours…what a balls up.
I agree but I guess they probably want Hurls to have the limelight tonight then make their move tomorrow.
This is getting really tiring isn’t it.
I thought we were past this, i thought two years ago when a bunch of players left we had hit rock bottom and actually looked on the up.
Last year was great, exceeded expectations.
This year, i never thought we would make the eight, second year blues? i never thought it would be this bad. This past week has been embarrassing for the players, the club and the supporters.
I think we actually don’t have a bad list, we need some depth sure and a couple of key personnel but overall i think our list is on the right track over the next couple of years.
However, over the past week the amount of stories which are coming out are very concerning from the coaching staff, the board and the general vibe of the place.
Norf is making fun of us… Norf, thats embarrassing in itself.
I don’t know what we do from here though, the romantic side would love for Hird to come back, but i think it is still too soon.
Is Rutten the best fit? i don’t know.
The club has to do something…
Wellman is on the Board
Genuinely asking, why do they get a big 4 firm to help with a review? Is it so they can help structure it? Cause I don’t understand how a firm and footy clubs are similar.
So can Madden, Wellman, Brasher and Allen actually be removed tomorrow? Is this a spill, sorry don’t no much about how boards work.
If this can happen, can the remaining members remove X?
It’s been 10 years. When will it not be too soon?
So many people on Blitz, including myself, always said during those junktime end of season wins that it was just a sugar hit at the time. It would be more detrimental to us in the longer term.
And it turned out to be totally right. Even if a couple of those St Kilda, Sydney, Brisbane etc wins were reversed results - we may have been looking for a coach a lot earlier than is reported.
And this may have ended quite differently. All hypotheticals, yeah, but frustrating to think about.
I’ll be a lot less worried once the players who are better back room operators than on field are booted from the club
I just think, he had a lot of time out of the game and has only been an assistant coach for half a year at this stage.
Honestly though, i believe if Heppell leaves that will be a sign that Hird is coming back.
That will be the last of the suspended players gone.
He didn’t have the numbers back then. It wasn’t until the internal review was handed down that some of the Brasher (and steady as she goes) supporters (i.e. Sheedy) realised what a farce that was and changed their view on that and supported Barham. He took his chance as soon as he could.
I know it’s better late than never but would’ve been good if they all felt this way a lot sooner
Richmond went to a big 4 firm and the data they got from it was incredibly vaulable Brendon Gale has noted. It can really sort out your operational process rhythm and find out what is clearly breaking down and why. I think it will heavily highlight the sheer lack of process we currently have and then give authority to a board to make decisive actions with clear justifications
Sounds good. Thanks for answering Scoot!
That just cost you 20k.
Whatever the agreed scope is, we will pay at least double
Probably wasted something like that on the club over the years
The only reason I don’t want Hird to coach is because I don’t want to come on Blitz and read the same negative comments from the same posters every time there is a set back.
See, I reckon Clarkson did tell us early in the week. I think he’d already made up his mind about North but because if the funeral (or whatever it was) that he had to go to and he asked North not to announce it until later in the week. It was entirely the media that turned it into a circus - not us and not Clarkson.
