Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 3, August 2022)

Well yeah 1st / 2nd year players excluded.

and then went on to play 22 out of 23 games, but yeah doesn’t sound like a gurarantee at all, it was just conincidence he played all those games and never once looked fatigued or playing poorly or anything.

trying to think who would entertain taking wright for a 3rd

maybe the bulldogs. or crows if tex retires.

very very soft maybes

I think you made the guarantee part up.

oh yeah, brad never specifically came out and said I guarantee heppell will get a game, esp in an interview after he was subbed out of the game.

so yes technically he never specifically said ā€œguaranteeā€, but again funny how he played 22 out of 23 games hey, which kinda proves my point.
but hey yeah never technically said the word ā€œguaranteeā€ so good job

Why on Earth would we trade Perkins? One of the few younger players on the list with elite vision and kicking skills. Must be persisted with. Heaps of people have gone way too early on writing him off.

People having a hard time with Dambrosio at the Hawks will lose their mind if Perkins finds his next gear at Carlton or Geelong.

The Bulldogs would surely be just about last on the list of clubs that would be interested in him? Jamarra, Darcy and Naughton up forward already. They’re stacked.

I’d have thought Melbourne and Collingwood would be the more likely suitors if any.

I don’t hate this, but it’s a little light on for information on what the actual plan is regarding trading Perkins.
I also don’t understand why you’d delist Kelly, who at worst is still very good depth, unless list spots are at an absolute premium.
And I’m not sure they are in this scenario…

probably should have put more than 3 seconds thought in lol

yeah melb and coll are good shouts in terms of role, but would they actually want to trade in a 27yo key forward that’s currently in the pre-rinse cycle

he seems very product-of-the-environment to me, so of course he’d thrive elsewhere. he ain’t gonna thrive here.

is that a good reason to keep someone though? aren’t we dreaming about killing off the ā€œhappy to be hereā€ vibe?

It would be devastating him thriving elsewhere. Mass has been bad enough.

Can’t see Adelaide or Dogs going anywhere near Peter Wright. If there’s any club, it would be Melbourne, plus we would have to pay some of his salary too.

brad (from his positioning on the grassy knoll at tulla) also told the coaches giving votes in the crichton to make sure they gave hepp heaps of votes to mask the entire guarantee/cover up conspiracy

Yeah that’s certainly a question they’d have to ask themselves but they’re both clubs who generally think they’re good enough to contend most years so I could see them showing some interest if the terms were in their favour.

Especially Melbourne given that they apparently believe that they’re still very much in their Premiership window and they feel that they will end up benefiting from being forced to play a lot of younger players this year - Windsor, Tholstrup, Howes, Turner, Moniz-Wakefield etc. So that when Petracca returns, Oliver gets a pre-season they’ll actually be back around the mark.

Out Schache, In Wright would be somewhat humorous but hey, he’s a much better version.

He has actually demonstrated match-winning traits and has a couple of BOG’s to his name. He is 22 and has had a horrible year. This is not a Nik Cox or a Josh Begley who had eye-popping spikes of early form and then drifted- he has put together some very good footy in his 70 odd games.

It’s simply classic recency-bias that people are struggling to look beyond his current lull.

I still think he is one of our best prospects.

There’s a big difference between Scott playing favourites with a veteran and a ā€œguaranteeā€ that a player will play every game. You can have an opinion about it. Pretty far from being a fact though.

What about the new kid on the block Archie Roberts?

Losses to Gold Coast, St Kilda, Adelaide and Melbourne have ended our season but at least we have seen who will be not at this club in 2025 so all is not lost.

Have we, though?

Yep. We are better off out of the finals this year. Too brittle.
