I’m happy for them to be sacked.

Barham turned the review underway into a sham, using Hislop as cover for his personal selections of CEO and Coach.
He should resign to spend more time with his family.

So, we had the same thoughts as I cancelled mine at the same time!

Our list is only so big. I don’t think we have 23 players that meet the standards.

I’ve lamented for years how easily satisfied this club is, and how quick we are to pat ourselves on the back for the smallest of achievements.

Get smashed in a final? It was a success just to make it, just top up from here.

Be in the top 4 in may? Doesn’t matter that we fell away and missed finals. Just being there is a sign of success.

Be 6 goals up in a game? Just take the foot off the pedal, we got this from here easy.

Beat Geelong in a preseason game? Extend the coaches contract.

And so on.

The media loves to rev us up for any sign of progress too, as we saw this week. That doesn’t help.

But last night reminded me how quickly the team can go the other way, too. You could tell from that bullshit double goal that we were going to drop our heads and give up, which we did. And it’s not the first time I’ve seen this team drop their bundle after some ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  umpiring.

Gosh it’s still a long way back to the top for this club from here. Especially as we may have not even hit rock bottom yet.

Fantasia ā€œwe had a successful seasonā€ (2019)

Disgusting attitude

Absolutely. Was at the game and when that happened I just thought, ā€˜here we go’.

Seen it so many times before, rinse repeat. I don’t expect us to beat good teams as we are basically rebuilding without saying it, but it really does feel like Groundhog Day. Feels like it will never change.

Let’s close the thread. It’s pointless. Go and enjoy your Sunday.

That was absolutely the exact moment I knew we were farked. Pea hearts.

We have idiots on here saying play the kids and get rid of older players.
If we do that, the kids will be thrashed week after week by all the other sides. Thats a great way to debut young players and watch last night repeated week after week.
Theres really no way out of this except the hard grind for years, and bring kids in when they are ready, seeking incremental improvement of the team.

It’s time for an intervention. I think Vozzo has some savvy, but Barham is too wishy-washy. I don’t see McPherson doing much except mouthing club talking points. And Scott has too much control.

Someone has to say enough is enough. I suspect Vozzo knows it, but is undercut by a weak board.

If I were running the show, I’d be making Scott accountable for team performance and game plan. I’d demand to know the strategy and request concrete examples rather than meaningless soundbites. I’d put in a strong chairman of selectors with a policy of team development. And I’d heavily review football department staffing, from McPherson right through to the assistant coaches.

The other thing sadly lacking is transparency. The club is great at trotting out pointless social media posts, but silent on the issues the supporters want to know about. What is the strategy? What’s the game plan? How do you explain our selection policies? Why do we re-sign players like Jones mid-season? The club is long overdue in being accountable to its members.

I’m tired of Scott, but I don’t think he’s going anywhere. But I think he needs to be better managed. Barham will be gone soon; hopefully, we’ll get stronger leadership.

There needs to be a line in the sand.

I struggle to say negative things about Raz, but yeah… That really bothered me at the time. I was like ā€œReally? Is this just him, or is this a club-wide perspective?ā€

This is the bit that gets me.

Look! Essendon’s defence is amazing.*

*After playing the worst teams in the comp.

I wish that the media coverage of us was just a consistent, ā€œEssendon is still mediocre, more at 5.ā€

Sometimes I think the media is more invested in Essendon getting back to the top than Essendon is.
