Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

Nino would rather see us just miss out on finals for another 20 years…….than cop 5 years of pain at the bottom of the ladder, to eventually win a Premiership.

Our bottom is coming during the worst time with tassie coming in

You forgot to mention North!

Yep. If we don’t nail picks in the next drafts it’s gonna be another long period of no man’s land.

Do you trust Brad to develop those young kids we draft though?

Either way we are screwed

Heres the thing. Lets not make that terrible loss go to waste. You just know they will analyse it for 3 hrs then move on to preparations for the Richmond match. Its obvious that a very detailed
Play by play analysis of that game could teach our boys more than our coaches can teach them.

Analyse and show the players what the dogs did well, and not concentrate on what we did badly.

Spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday watching how well the dogs played and try and use it to our advantage.

Yes I like the sentiment of some who want to move Zach Merret on, so he can taste some success.
Well, doesnt that apply to Caddy, Martin, Kako, Hobbs … etc, because its llikely we will not win a final with any of the players currently on the list.

Oh please show me all the people who have said we should trade Merrett.

lol

Shouldn’t the coach already be getting our players to play like that?

I doubt he is and we don’t have the list to play like that .

Once again he hidden behind wins against teams that are bottom dwellers .

When have ever put a bottom team away or knocked over a big team when they are in form .

3 years in and we still a bottom 4 team

Percentage doesn’t lie

No i dont. what i want is the club to back in this new regime cant expect Brad and Rosa to fix 20 years of mediocrity in 3 years

Getting rid of Brad now is the messiah complex that the club has been know for.

Who is this Cam Roberts bloke??

I would trade him, his best is the best in the league but his worst is bad and he is a sook.

I’ve never thought of Merrett as a sook. Have I been missing something?

Just a competition for “worst post” that seems to be occuring today.

It’s my opinion that when things don’t go Merretts way or he is off he starts complaining to umpires and throwing his hands up trying to win free kicks instead of just putting his head down and getting the ball.
Dont get me wrong Merrett is far and away our best player and when he is on in my mind hardly a better player in the league

I guess on occasion, an effect of being someone with high standards in a frustrating team, I don’t see it as a trait though.

Merret looked to be playing mostly forward and we kept kicking it to him when he was triple teamed. Not sure what he’s supposed to do in a game like that.

The Alwyn Davey roll is back

There are also a bunch of Essendon people in the footy media who ride the emotional rollercoaster far too much because they’re fans, the same way everyday punters do.
A few wins in a row and the club has turned the corner, a big loss or two and heads need to roll - minimal in between, and the fans are influenced by that energy because it’s coming from ‘experts’ or journos. 4 out of 5 against either really bad teams or teams who play really badly and suddenly everything is roses and chocolates with a tidal wave of positive news stories, when in truth as a club you’re exactly where you were 6 weeks ago. Happens internally too. And yes Essendon are more susceptible to it than most.

“Things are never as good as they seem, things are never as bad as they seem” is the most accurate cliche in footy.

It’s not really, unless it’s somebody who wants to get rid of Brad to get Hirdy back.

Plus, not everyone who makes a criticism of Brad want him sacked on the spot. Some of us just don’t believe he is taking us anywhere, and there comes a point where moving ahead with the wrong guy is worse than cutting him and starting fresh. I personally don’t think we’ve reached that point yet, but I reckon we’re approaching it over the next 6-12 months. Which is why the premature extension (he he) annoys me so much.
