Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

Yeah… it wasn’t so much the freebie membership that got my attention…

I got offered a complimentary membership for Saturday’s game.

I didn’t renew this year. I thought I hadn’t renewed last year either but turns out auto renew was on (have no idea how that happened).

Anyway I wonder if that 5000 is a reflection of everyone they sent the offer to rather than the numbers who have actually accepted.

Watching an interview with James Clear (author of atomic habits) and he said a quote that perfectly sums up Essendon when you hear about the ridicule of players doing extra session or trying to improve.
He talks about how often it’s extremely hard to change habits or behaviours if it goes against your social group and the desire to belong overpowers the desire to improve.

Unfortunately for this club, and dare say Carlton is in the same boat……… there are people who have served this club for decades, who love the club, and would drop everything and do anything they can for what’s best for the club.

The problem is that these same people are often friends & business partners with people who have served this club for decades, and have used this club to get themselves personally ahead at the cost of the clubs success. These people have played politics to gain power, and screw this club over for their own financial interests.

Both things are true, and it’s why this club is a tangled political mess.

Yes we have ousted good Essendon people, toxic stains from the club, and anything f inbetween. But perhaps it has been necessary, so we can untangle this political sh*t show which has plagued the club for decades.

I wish I could give this two likes.

You mean like our next President :joy:

Wish we could just fast forward to the off season so we can see the list changes

That 5,000 has since been deducted. They don’t add these to the figure reported end of August.

I think membership is tracking about 2,000 behind this time last year.

I’m on record as to backing this regime in for a period to do the heavy lifting of rebuilding a footy club.

That said, I’m also strongly of the view this is an administration for the medium term. It’s very weak commercially and it can’t ’pray for rain’ forever in terms of being so innocuous and weak commercially.

It will need to fix football because it’s so bad ‘off field’ it will not last if it doesn’t.

I don’t think there is going to be many big ones. Brad hasn’t really done it so far into his reign. I would be shocked if he starts now

You might see some fringe players get let go, but no big names or players with actual currency will be traded. I fully expect him to ask Goldy to go round again

Saw this on twitter, don’t know if it’s legit or not

I’ve passed things on the toilet that are more credible than that.

What happened in 2013 that would makes us the worst club for soft tissue injuries since.

Get back on the gear boys, you can’t be professional athletes without taking the good stuff.

We were still no good even when on the good stuff.

Im done with this club.
Im not even watching the game tomorrow. First time in probably 5 years I wont watch a game by choice.

Not going to bother investing my time and interest into this club until major changes are made. They literally do everything wrong, from the small things to the big.

Im sick of the mental gymnastics people try and make to excuse how poor a coach Scott is. We have had worse coaches in my time watching but never have I ever disliked a coach as much as this smug, stubborn basterd who says the right things but does the complete opposite at every chance and somehow not only avoids criticism by anyone in the media, people actually praise him despite any form of coaching achievements in over a decade.

Im sick of the injuries.
Im sick of the false hope.

Seriously just a very tired too passionate football supporter.
I came to this country in 2005 and have literally never seen any form of success.

Just over it.

Don’t for a second think there are clubs with only 3 soft-tissue injuries per year for over a decade. It reads like BS.

You are here forever.

I stopped watching earlier in the year.

I couldn’t stand watching this team, made up of 23-28 years olds, who are nowhere near good enough…… just continually butchering the ball and making horrific decisions. While scraping over the line against bottom 4 sides.

Now that we have a bunch of kids in, and we’re shooting downwards towards pick 3…… I’m far more optimistic watching these kids have a crack.
