If you’re chasing a bloke who has 3 years to run on a contract…. You’re gonna be paying through the nose. The only time you should be chasing that player, is if the club wants him out or you close to a Premiership.
But if you’re promising the player you’ll get the deal done…. Then you need to get it done. Simple as that.
I still don’t think it was worth us doing that deal, as I don’t believe Dunkley would be overly effective at Essendon…. Especially for the price of 2 first rounders.
Interesting comment from Hird in Footy Furnace: on Daicos leaving for Tassie$$$, he says leaving Collingwood is a different beast. They look after you for life.
Strong endorsement of culture. Do we look after players post-career?
This is Michael Voss commentary at his Club B & F. He might as well have been talking about Essendon. Both clubs have a decade plus of failure largely as a result of self destruction and getting in each others way. It has become Club culture.
I just hope our club leaders and people are given the chance to do their jobs without ongoing distractions and disruptions. The Club needs space to breathe. The media naturally enough will be circling like crocodiles.
In 12 months we can review performance and make decisions rather than after each weeks team announcement or after each loss on the back of irrational emotional outbursts by all and sundry.
