Something seriously wrong with the club (Part 4, August 2024)

Finished the season on a 13 game losing streak surprised any of them didn’t ask for a trade if this trends continues into next year we will lose some.

Liam Pickering just detailed the failed Dunkley trade.

My goodness Dodoro did so much damage in that role. Amazing that he was kept around for so long.

Apart from Merrett, who’s asking for a trade? We lost 13 in a row because you (disgruntled trade seeking player) are ■■■■! If YOU were better, we would have won.

Thanks again PRINCE

Dodo thought he could be smart again after getting Stringer with 2 second rounders but not this time.

I think how they handle the merrett situation will determined if they have actually turned a corner or if they stupidly continue down the same path as they always do.

as it stands scott has 2 years left on his contract. The way the list is at present he simply does not have the capacity to “earn” another contract, so unless ■■■■ hits the fan again next year, he has 2 years left, more than likely 1.

Merrett wants out now for success. we aren’t getting that in the next 2 years, and as stated above will have a new coach at worst in 2 years, the year his contract ends.

There is no logical point keeping merrett, as he will be gone in 2 years time, there’s no point trying to pretend or deny that, no one with half a brain thinks he won’t be gone when his contract runs out.

So if they continue to run with the “we won’t trade merrett stance” then they’ve learnt nothing and walsh will simply repeat the past bad behaviours the other boards have.

Welsh’s stated position on merrett and talk of going after Darcy, fiorini and to a lesser extent flanders suggests we haven’t learned our lesson.

This is really not how it played out on here.

Most people knew the Dogs really didn’t want to trade him and agreed we shouldn’t provide a Godfather offer.

To be honest it’s a pretty stupid argument at a high-level: “Club A was interested in Player X who ultimately went to other, well-run Club B which is choc full of talented where he had success, Club A is a shambles.”

Dunks picked us you just get the deal done.

Surely Dodoro knew that getting him wasnt going to be cheap

Dunkley wasn’t worth 2 firsts. Even then we made things move to give the Bulldogs a bloody good offer, which they scoffed at.

Two years later as a b&f winner Brisbane paid less than that and McCartney says “yeah, sure”.

As much as I’m no fan of Vanders18, this one’s hardly his fault.

Disagree

It’s because of his past dealings that clubs treated us that way. If he had had a decent relationship with other list managers and player managers and hadn’t tried to screw them all over multiple times then perhaps sides would’ve been more willing to deal with us

That factors in.

But McCartney is also a flog, and his flogitude was the reason for that deal dying.

If Pickering says it - it must be true.
