typical spurs behaviour really
I doubt they even know who these guys are, Iâve never heard of a gridiron team called Vikings
I appreciate the point you are trying to make.
BUTâŚ
You are underselling the Vikings.
They were expected to do well this year. That have a well respected young coach in his third year who has built the club up over his last 2 years.
Consider this: in close games, he has the #2 record.
Not just in his 3 years, BUT IN NFL HIISTORY.
Contrast that with our situation. Instead of a highly respected innovative young coach we have an unsuccessful coach who had to be begged to come out of retirement, and who has since been⌠well âhe hasnât covered himself with gloryâ is the kindest thing we could say about his tenure thus far.
Also Minnesota recruited their GM from one of the most successful franchises, and he has really set them up.
Also, also they recruited their QB, the key player in NFL clubs, from the 49ers, who are THE QB factory. Our own @DonMania pointed out very early in the season that Darnold would do well coming from the tutelage of the 49ers coaching staff.
Contrast that with our situation. Instead of trading in someone who could become the most important player on the team we paid a kingâs ransom for a bloke whose handballs give Blitzers nightmares, and an uninspiring HFFer.
Quite a difference.
If you follow NFL (and most of the players do) they would know who the Vikings are - they are one of the oldest and biggest teams in the league. They have had some of the best players in NFL history.
They have the notoriety of having made the superbowl 4 times - losing all 4. That, and an uncanning ability to steal defeat from the jaws of victory lead their fans to coin this:
Iâve been a long suffering Vikings fan for 30+ years.
Interestingly, their ânewâ stadium is an indication of how the new Hobart stadium could look.
As WD said nobody, (me included) thought the Vikes would win more than 5 games this year. They are currently 14-2 with one game to go. Hopefully things can change quickly like this for the Bombers too.
We really werenât. ESPN had us winning the #1 pick next year. Darnold was considered a placeholder at best.
I thought weâd do better than last year. KOC performed amazingly well to get us 7 wins with a QB carousel and JJ out for large chunks of the season.
Absolutely nobody saw us playing for the #1 seed in the NFC though.
Shows you how much ESPN would know. They had finished last year well, didnât they? (I donât follow them but seem to recall that much).
But thatâs the whole premise of the video - that everyone had written them off before the season started.
IIRC, by the end we needed to defeat Detroit twice in three weeks, and rely on other results falling our way.
As you mentioned in your earlier post, KOC is one hell of a coach. It was a remarkable achievement to have the team in that position considering he was without JJ for a couple of months and was forced to start four QBs over the season.
This image from the weekend is incredible. A coach who knows when to speak and when to shut up.
Do the 49ers have another spare QB we can recruit?
I think Colin Kaepernick is available.
Youâre also forgetting JJ, pretty hard to not be good when you have the best receiver in the game. Making an average QB like Darnold look good.
I am not forgetting him at all. You should be directing those comments to the people who thought the Vikings would be crap this year. Obviously they were wrong now and I would have thought they were wrong at the time.
You would be in the minority, even my Vikings supporting friends were talking a bad year pre season. Darnolds rise was not easy to predict and even with some 49ers coaching nobody though he would be MVP conversation level ever, he was a bust QB 12 months ago.
The question now will be finals. Letâs hope he can carry the pressure.
Now I understand whatâs wrong with this Club (based on the last few posts!)! Weâre playing the wrong sport!!!
Well we did win a National E-Sports tournamentâŚâŚ and qualified for Asia.

Do they not want to people to turn up!?
The last 20 plus years of on and off field effort would heavily suggest they do not want people to turn up.
