One of the travesties of the music era of the last 40 years has been that Marianne Faithfull has never been given the recognition she deserves…this just popped up on my playlist:
That song is very nice but you have to admit that her voice can be pretty horrible to listen to at times.
No I don’t.
I love her voice through all it’s variances over time.
Had the pleasure of being a support act to Brodrick at the Corner Hotel back in the mid 80’s.
Jeez he could sing.
And his band were good blokes- even helped us with the load out.
And feel for the guitarist. The original cut is Steve Lukather, one take, nailing it.
He had to go out every night and try to play that…
I saw Joe Jackson in the late 80s at the Concert Hall.
It was the only gig I’ve ever attended where the mix was just TOO LOUD, so much so that it spoiled the experience.
I managed to see him three times…twice in Melbourne in the mid 80s and then in Perth in the early 90s.
Easily one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen.
