Reckon I had those on cassingle… remember them?
Still have a few.
Including the Beatbox theme by Bits ‘n’ Pieces.
The b side is exactly the same but instead of beatbox being the vocal, it’s ‘Exactly As Linda Said.’
Original and “altered real”(for a quick release) are the only ones in the playlist but I’ve listened to all I can find. The others are not for me.
Hopefully there’s a good one for me and I really hope it’s not the timely 30 minute one!
At the very least if I can play owner of a lonely heart against pleasuredome original without touching the volume that’ll be worth it.
Edit: Based on the “love has got a gun” (which I’d never heard) version that just come out I think I’ll be alright.
I was hoping this was going to have the Frankie recording of Slave To The Rhythm on it (yes, apparently he gave them a stab at it before giving it to Grace Jones) but sadly not to be…
I hunted for a definitive CD version of the album for a long time (very few of the CD releases replicated the original vinyl’s running order). Finally found one… think it was released by Rhino and it sounds great.
It’s debatable how much they played on it (i.e. not much) but the first two sides on the album are fantastic. Side three’s a write-off (though I did get a kick out of how much their Born To Run piisses off Broooce fans…) but there’s some decent stuff on side four.
I’m hearing double.
Funny you say… just yesterday I found out that I.R.S. Records trademarked “cassingle” when they put out Go-Go’s Vacation with that term written on it. It was the first ever cassette single released in the US, in 1982.
And the UK had them two years prior, starting with…
Piracy anthem. Cheeky as.
Now we are talking.
Best thing to come out of Adelaide by far….
(Apologies to Aceman, Stacca & Dingus)
To Ramona was always one of Dylan’s prettiest songs, and this version is utterly delightful. I’d never heard of Sinéad Lohan until I stumbled on this on YouTube. She has a beautiful voice. She made two albums in 1998 and 1999 and then retired to raise her children in the south of Ireland and never performed or recorded again.
