Back when British pop was political and anti-Thatcher
dust off the vhs
Heās wearing very tight pants.
I love this version
Coming into heavy rotation. It just makes me happy.
That filthy bass (synth-bass?).
Itās an awesome riff. Butā¦is the guitaristā¦improvising or is he just not very good?
GQ.
Filthy bass you say?
Great album of my youth.
Literally forgot this song existed.
Me too. Contrary to the way these thing usually go, I thought the live album was far superior to the subsequent studio produced Listen Now.
Agree - I had Listen Now and did used to listen to it, but had honestly forgotten about it! Whereas I will never forget 801 Live.
I did also have the Eno albums Another Green World and Before and after Science, and really liked them.
Reason I posted the Beatles cover was @wimmera1 commenting on bass - I recently told a friend to give 801 Live a listen. Heās a bass player and he texted me āthe bass playing on 801 Live is WILD!ā
Here Come The Warm Jets would be in my all-time top ten albums. Itās superb.
Fits the brief and also on topic.
I legit went to the Satch gig because he was supporting.
Ah yeah that too. But that one really is in the havenāt listened for years basket!
Also, I love the drums on 801 Live - those drums and bass together are groove city (to me anyway). So I looked up 801 Live last night, and found that the drummer I knew nothing about was Simon Phillips (later Judas Priest etc), and he was 19 years old at the time of 801 Live, having taken up drums at 12.
Jeepers!
Bit of an underrated classic Stones song off an underrated album imho ..
