Sorry for not attending earlier — review beating the Saints in 2022

Having 4 genuine running half backs helped the defence and our ball movement enormously tonight.

Hepp pretty much stuck to the wing, and we dropped Reid to accommodate all 4 but it was a giant improvement.

Combined with Ridley as a key tall and the more contested style Caldwell brings to the on ballers we looked a million times better.

It also just happens to be pretty darn close to what plenty here have been asking for since before Rd 1.

Ham was alright just quietly

Realise the stats sheet says 31 touches….but thought Guelfi did a solid negating role on Sinclair tonight. Had minimal impact despite the big possession count. Suspect those numbers may have been inflated due to him taking a chunk of the kick outs though.

Good to have a win even though it has cost me my AFL gauntlet.

How do the Saints get Friday Night games? :sunglasses:

Yes he is. Still sporting the number 5 too. Can confirm he smiled several times.

Sinclair was forced sideways often as well which meant his kicks didn’t provide any penetration. A great job by Guelfi.

Old mate Scoops took it well I see

We got a problem. How do we fit Parish, Snelling and Langers into that side.

Decent amount of essendon fans there tonight for a team near rock bottom and an away game.

Only caught last Q at work but though Redman, Lav and Ridley were outstanding and swept up everything coming their way.

Also Kelly is still too slow with ball movement, couple of 45 degree kicks he just hesitated on.

Good to see Wright back among the goals. Stringer Jones and 2MP could bag a few second half of the year.

Great win against a good side.

Ham and probably Guelfi the obvious ones to come out. Not sure who else though

Loved the win. Loved the fight. Loved the pressure tonight.

But for heavens sake why do we need to have the mini heart attack in what should have been a smooth sailing victory after our fast start!
However, to fight back after 5 unanswered goals with 5 or 6 of our own shows great heart from a young side!

Classic Essendon lol

Proud of the boys tonight, plenty of positives.

Shiel played well again, used his pace and has looked far more confident since the break. Happy for him.

Draper also played well and better yet, slotted 2.0. Must be working on his kicking!

Redman, McGrath, Ridley, Mass, in fact most of our backline was solid all night.

Patchy game from Stringer but important, as was the usual gritty types like Durham, Guelfi etc.

Heppell played well early, but a bit quiet after they patched up the split webbing in his hand.

Perko was good.

Hard to not see the positives in a win!

Matchday thread was on fire as usual. Always good to participate when visiting the Bronx.

And finally, to end my speech, I’d like to give a big ■■■■ you to the AFL and the umpiring department. What a ■■■■■■■ ■■■■ show! :fu:
