Sorry Saga - What Hirdy Said

The public are very keen to know why the players left the drug test forms blank and it seems to be an important part of the CAS findings. I'd have liked her to ask if he knows why, and whether it was a club directive.

Post interview, one of the audience members asked this question and it wasn’t answered particularly well. Hirdy explained that 13 of the players weren’t tested by ASADA during the program therefore never had the opportunity to declare it and then said that he doesn’t know why none of the remaining 21 declared it but that the players are filling in these forms between training and meetings and media commitments and just write down what comes to mind(don’t place a massive amount of importance on it).
There has to be more to this… A bit coincidental that all 21 players all forgot to declare the same supplement.

I think the significance of this has been blown out of all proportion by CAS.
Did the players declare anything at all? It most likely wasn’t just the thymosin injections omitted. If they omitted everything it implies they didn’t think it was important to put anything on the forms, as Hird said. Since it wasn 't compulsory to put down anything you had taken, and players were just advised to do it if they thought something they took might affect the test result, it is fair enough that they didn’t feel the need to declare anything. It certainly wasn’t them hiding it from ASADA as they were open about putting it on the consent forms and then giving those to the investigation. That isn’t the behaviour of someone concealing it.

WADA disagrees. It signifies guilt.
Just saw a shocking example of harrassment of Hird on Sky news. Most of the press are just scum

They want to bury him.

Essendon Football Club saga: Madigan demands inquiry
January 18, 2016
Independent Senator for Victoria John Madigan will push for a Senate inquiry into the Essendon Football Club saga, saying the drugs in sport issue is too important to be mishandled.

Senator Madigan said: “This whole thing has been a dog’s breakfast from day one and it has certainly dragged on and on. Fans have been left high and dry as well as the future of 34 players.

“Serious questions remain about Australia’s doping in sport regulatory regime, its effectiveness and ability to properly police and prosecute breaches.

“All AFL players, their families and all football fans need answers to the myriad of questions that remain hanging over this issue. Certainly we need standards and a strict regime to counter drugs in sport. The use of illegal supplements is never acceptable but the way this issue has been handled raises deep questions about our national game and how it is administered.”

Senator Madigan said he was concerned that the fates of 34 Australian Rules footballers had been possibly hijacked by an international body.

“My understanding is that there was nothing about this case that could not have been heard openly and transparently in an Australian court of law; perhaps even in a specially-designated sports division of the Federal Court or some form of administrative tribunal,” Senator Madigan said.

“A Senate inquiry is entirely appropriate to try to unravel the onion-layers of complexity surrounding this case. Essendon fans need answers. Football fans need answers. Football players and their families need answers. The Australian public has a right to know.

“As an Australian Government agency, the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority must be accountable to the Parliament for its actions. There are matters of complex law in this case that demand further investigation and questioning.”

Senator Madigan said although the so-called Court of Arbitration for Sport sat in Sydney, it was based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

“This so-called court operates under Swiss law as an ‘arbitration organisation’ and its decisions can only be appealed to the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland, where they are generally not successful,” he said.

“There is a question of fairness here. It concerns the conditions under which professional Australian sportsmen and sporting women are employed and the fair and equitable operation of sporting clubs,” Senator Madigan said. “We need clarity, we need transparency and we need a resolution to this issue that has dragged on way too long.”

This is a good development. A number of key independent Senators are clearly disposed to an inquiry. The problem is the major parties. Given their roles, would one of them support it. I would hope so.

Can I suggest to all Blitzers who feel aggrieved by the CAS decision to send him an email or letter of support for his action. Mine has already been sent. In the process of sending a similar note of support to Senator De Natale who proposes a similar action.

Whatever you do don’t post anythig they said.

Dank is a dead set #%*!.

Essendon saga: parents appalled as AFL, Dons pursue costs against Hal Hunter

January 15, 2016 - 6:16PM

Hunter and Dr Stevens noted that their son Hal was the youngest player at Essendon in 2012 — he was 18 when he arrived as a rookie-list player late in 2011. “Hal was part of the injection program from early 2012 and he received injections both at the club and offsite,” the parents told Fairfax Media, in a joint statement.

Hunter did not receive an infraction notice — likely because he did not sign a consent form for the relevant substance — and thus avoided the year-long suspensions, but he is no longer playing football. Thirty-four current and ex-Essendon players received season bans for doping offences on Tuesday.

So it wasn’t the injections that were a problem, it was signing a form.

Far out.

That’s what confirmed it was a form of Thymosin and thus if you assume it was dodgy and a cover up its what sinks everybody.

im pretty friggin mad that Hird think stipulating something and then sending an email is enough to ensure people don’t completely ■■■■ somebody’s life is all that he needed to do.

So in your workplace when they send out a email directing you to do something, that is a requirement or your job, do they stand over you to make sure you do it? Or do they let you get on with it and suspend or sack you if you do ignore them?..a footy club is a business just like any other & I would think sending an email saying you have to make sure something is legal & safe would be enough. It actually wasn’t Hird’s job to check that they do these things so why hasn’t the person who’s job it was been treated like Hird has been?

Hird could have sat there last night with a hand signed letter from Dank saying what he gave the players, have full documented evidence with video proof of what happened and no one would believe him.

So.. Does anyone think that interview was a good idea? Does anyone think it has helped the players?

I dont think it was either good or bad. It was simply Hird having a say.

the point was to make people start asking questions of the afl it wont happen though because the afl wont let it

I can’t help but feel that the Hird interview was originally planned with he view that it was Hird’s chance to say “see I told you” after the players were found not guilty last week.

The unexpected guilty outcome just made the interview lose it’s context.

Just saw a shocking example of harrassment of Hird on Sky news. Most of the press are just scum

I recorded the whole thing and left a little bonus at the end. Ill post it later

Hird now being hung over the fact that Dank still wont talk. Some of these dumbarses think Hird organized and ran the whole program. Where do this idiots in the media get their degrees from?

Far fetched to suggest that Wada found a way to make good on Asada’s likely Aod fark up? “Listen, if it wasnt Tb4 then it was probably Aod but we cant bring that charge without destroying our own Nado…”

Yeah probably.

Maybe not.

Meanwhile, I see Ings suggesting that Wada isnt independent but rather tied to the IOC and making compromised decisions because of it.

What a wonderfull, integrity filled cast we have had in this pantomime.

What is stopping any of these communication specialist asking Dank, Evans, the Greek and Robson the questions themselves. Why isn’t someone door stopping David Evans this morning. One way to make a name for yourself.

Anyone got a link to the Q&A after Hirds interview. Seems most of the interesting stuff occurred then.

Can I urge all of you that truly care to begin email campaign to politicians on all sides - after all, it was the Gillard government that began this mess and successive labour and liberal governments that want to do nothing to stop it, support the rights of Australian people or even show a care factor. At least let them know that the public is very unhappy with this whole event.

Meanwhile, I see Ings suggesting that Wada isnt independent but rather tied to the IOC and making compromised decisions because of it.

I honestly thought that was always a given. I also can’t understand how there’s even a perception that WADA & CAS are in any way independent of each other. Having a Chairman preside over this case who is also involved in the IAAF is yet another reason why the entire mess is a corrupt farce.

Just saw a shocking example of harrassment of Hird on Sky news. Most of the press are just scum

What happened?

the big question is…what was the so called evidence that the AFL were suggesting they had when they tipped Essendon off.

and I though that Hird would have dumped a bit harder on the AFL ie their pressure they applied for him to take 12 months off
