Speculation on changes for tin rattlers 13th July

I dont think we can use snelling in midfield.

We have a small midfield as is

Itll be an interesting game if for nothing else that one teams arrogant supporters will be out in their place.

We’ve done very little but ■■■■ north supporters arw cocky foe a bunch of plebs who essentially told their coach to ■■■■ off 5 odd weeks ago cos theyd underperformed for the first half of the year.

In: Hartley, Heppell, Snelling
Out: Clarke, Clarke (rest), Fantasia (rest)

I think we should go with this

Sàad, Hartley (or brown), Francis
McKenna, Hurley, redman
Mcgrath,parish, Merrett
Tippa, McKernan,zaka
Fanta, hooker, stringer
Zclarke, Shiel, Heppell

Gleeson, Langford, Snelling guelfi

In. Snelling, Heppell
Out. Laverde, d.clarke( rest him for the crouch brothers)
Reckon guelfi can go to Cunnington

We don’t have a small midfield.

I think Stinger pinch hitting in the ruck is a better option than Z Clarke.

The only issue he said himself he wasn’t fit enough to play on Saturday.

Allir did really well in the ruck, have we got someone with the height and agility like him? Laverde? Gleeson?

I would argue that we do. Hence why we throw Stringer in there at times

How do we have a small midfield if Stringer is actually a regular part of our midfield?
I don’t follow.
Langford, Clarke, Heppell, Parish are not small per say.

48,000 for their home ‘marquee’ game on Good Friday. A good 30-35,000 were us on that day with the few that did rock up heading for the exits during the third quarter.

We’ve had their measure recently to say the least. We have proven we have the ‘know how’ to beat them in a free flowing shootout OR a shut down style game. I can’t see the same 35 goal shootout as our home game against them at the same time last year had.

The midfield, led in particular by Shiel (36 possessions & 5 clearances) and Merrett (39 possessions & 7 clearances), were awesome against them earlier in the year. No Shaun Higgins this time (arguably their best midfielder) who had 30 possessions & 6 clearances himself against us on Good Friday.

Nick Larkey and Cameron Zurhaar kicked 10 goals between them yesterday in a 6 goal win. As much as we always expect some spud to pop up and play a blinder against us… I can’t see them repeating those goal kicking heroics against a side that has conceded on average 69 points a game for the last three months.

Stringer isn’t regular. He is 2-3 centre bounces per game max.

Clarke is a recent addition but we haven’t had that big bodied midfield generally speaking

So you’re happy to go in with no ruckman…

Pfft.

Also they are stupid morons with an ugly face and a big butt and their butt smells and they like to kiss their own butt

My favourite part about this is that North see us as their biggest rival, Essendon forget that North even exist until the 1-2 rounds a year that we play them.

Looks like a fair smack of small club syndrome going on there.

Agree with the point but bit harsh on two quality young players. Most definitely not spuds.

It would be like playing against us and Jayden Laverde popping up and kicking 5.

Quality young players, yep, but I wouldn’t be thrilled.

Essendon made a monumental blunder when they didn’t use the second choice at the mid-year draft. Once Draper went down and having only Clarke as the back up ruckman when TBell went down will cost them dearly, probably a spot in the eight. I don’t know what they were thinking when they didn’t take the selection option.

Clarke is not the answer as Goldstein will take him to the cleaners if he is picked, and hence the game will be lost at the centre bounce. Clarke’s performance against the Swan’s makeshift ruckman, Aliir was pitiful. It will continue to be pitiful if he is picked against sides that have good, big, experienced ruckman - WAFL isn’t AFL - the difference is huge.

Therefore the selectors and coaches have to be a little imaginative when thinking through the ruck options against North. If ever there was a time to give Hartley another go. it is now. Hartley has played fullback, centre halfback, ruck and full forward at different times this year in the VFL, proving to be very versatile. To counteract Goldstein, I would have any combination of Hooker, Hartley and Smack, rucking, fullback and centre half forward, depending on how the game progresses.
For selection/deletion: Hartley for Z.Clarke, Snelling for Brown (can’t go too tall). Looks like Heppell wont get up, so Langford stays.

Saad Hartley Francis
McKenna Hurley Gleeson
McGrath Parish Redman
Snelling Hooker Stringer
Tippa Laverde Zaka

Smack Shiel Merrett

I/C D.Clarke Langford Fantasia Guelfi

It isn’t a perfect side. The rucking is going to be our Achilles heel for the remainder of the season, unless a little more imagination is forth coming.

Was hoping Cunnington would be suspended but only a fine. Damn.
