The bottom of this Ocean.
IT. IS. NOT. THAT. GREAT. OF. A. SONG. Get over it.
I reckon Black Keys have tried to emulate it with some song of theirs “and a broken heart is blind”. Of course triple moron gag over it.
Dolly Parton did the best version of it anyway.

Even better than this?
Even better than this?

That definitely is the best ever version
What a crock. The claim is brought by a trustee of a deceased estate!? “This has always been about recognition for us”. FOAD.
Anyway, can Led Zep just pass the bill straight on to Wolfmother?

Lol. Maybe they can split it with Jet.
I like the Fargone Beauties version, but this isn’t bad either.
Dread Zeppelin did it best.
I personally don’t think it is THAT similar.
Then again, I’m no Led Zeppelin fan either so maybe I just don’t care that much about this.
However, I do believe that anyone who brings this forward almost 40 years after the fact should have it taken with a grain of salt.
Just someone else looking for a cash grab rather than actually caring about plagiarism.

lololol seriously, seriously bad. Zimmer, thanks for making my ears vomit!
This version is the duck’s nuts, for mine…
This one’s pretty amusing too, given it perfectly captures the ponderance and pomposity of Morrison and co…
It's only the intro to Stairway that is suspect. Not sure what all the fuss is about.
I don’t even think it’s that similar, as a guitarist for 25 years I sat down last night and worked out how to play that spirit song, for starters its key is different, it’s progression is different it stays high while zeps goes low, it’s no more stairway than under the bridge is

Precisely. Firstly, the “suspect” bit is such a small part of the overall song.
Secondly, the only similarity in this riff is the descending bass. The Spirit song contains only this aspect. Led Zep’s has ascending notes countering the descending bass. Whilst it may sound similar, it is a completely different musical structure.

Yeah, but you’re no a lawyer or a money-grubbing descendant of the band. Doesn’t count.
It’s like everyone who ever wrote a song using 12 bar being sued by whoever did that first

Agreed.
Just like this case where the owner of the rights to Creedence Clearwater Revival’s music sued the writer of a song that sounded like one of CCR’s.
The writer was John Fogerty, former lead singer of CCR and writer of the original song.
And they all copied Bach anyway

Geez look out Status Quo.
