Or the reverse.

Iā€™m not sure where this leaves me

Why would anyone who likes the movie throw a hissy fit?

Because people who need to have others agree with them are hissy-fit-chuckers.

Iā€™d say insecure.

I think we have different analogies of hissy fits.

Nah, youā€™re wrong.

Anyway Iā€™ve seen it twice. 3 more times at the movies I reckon.

Greatest movie ever!

It was a bit disappointing that the only mention that Admiral Ackbar was even in the movie was the comment that he had been on the bridge at the same time as Leiaā€™s Mary Poppins moment. It should have been him bulldozing Snokeā€™s ship at light-speed (or I dunno, a droid maybe?).

yeah I know. Such a cult figure could have had a bit more put into his death.

Still, loved it. After a second watching last night, some of the things that seemed out of place or disjointed fit in far better.

I must admit, I left the cinema a bit ā€œmehā€. It dragged a lot for the first half and the whole casino story arc (with military/industrial complex ethics lecture included) was pretty ordinary. Overall I didnā€™t hate it, but whilst the only pre-requisite I set for The Force Awakens was ā€œdonā€™t suck like the prequelsā€, I was hoping for more with this one. It felt disjointed to me.

Saw it for the second time yesterday, I did not enjoy it nearly as much but that was probably because I had a 5 year old that found it too noisy and kept asking to go home constantly. He stopped asking about the time they got down to the base or perhaps when the silence happened from the ship turning to crash into Snokeā€™s ship.

Definitely agree about Admiral Ackbarā€™s death. I thought I did notice him in the movie prior to the bridge getting hit.

Also with Lukeā€™s look into the binary suns I absolutely did not think I saw a TIE fighter the second time around.

Wow, just saw it. Really terrible stuff. I appreciate that Rian Looperman had some heavyweight markets to please but apart from the audio and a couple of speccy cgi moments, steamer. Not sure you can really win with this milking of a franchise. Soulless

Wow. Finally saw it. Edit: this was an unintentional though amusing mirror of bloodychoir above. Wow was the most apt reaction I could think of.

That is the first time in a while I have wanted George Lucas back. At least he was clear in his own mind about the film he wanted to make. What a mess. It was basically an exercise in reminding us why all the storytelling is now happening on TV.

I quite enjoyed The Force Awakens because it was nice to be back in a Star Wars film , and I thought Rogue One was excellent (remove a few really clunky lines from Darth Vader and replace them with a silent stare as the Imperial officer spills his guts anyway and I am very content).

Maybe the simpler off-year spinoffs like Rogue One and the upcoming Han Solo film will be where the interest lies for me.

Yep, Rogue One was an enjoyable film, flawed but enjoyable. Didnā€™t make me cringe much which is a good test.

described the entire star wars saga.

Well if enjoyability was the light side of the force, and the flaws the dark then I guess right now Vader is killing younglings in the Jedi temple. Once there was a balance, once there was the Republic. Now the New Order arises as the Disney Empire.

Why is it that Lukeā€™s ā€œdeathā€ has caused so much angst?? I really dont get it. Its a common theme with Star Wars movies that a force masters ā€œdeathā€ is not the end of them. Hell, Yoda & Obi-Wan did more as a force ghost for Luke in the original trilogy than they ever did while they were ā€œaliveā€. Luke as a character is not gone, and all he did in this movie was learn the same lesson that Obi-Wan did in the original trilogy ā€œstrike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagineā€
