Star Wars,Rise of Skywalker FULL SPOILERS!

It reminded me of the scene in ‘Liar Liar’ where he does the fart in the elevator and then yells “IT WAS ME!!!”

He wasn’t a mole. He just wanted to see Kylo fail.

I get all that, but a death loses meaning when it is so conditional. In Revenge of the Sith Palp tempts Anakin becuase the Sith may be able to raise Padme from the dead. By Rise of Skywalker we see resurrections of Kylo and Rey in the blink of an eye. Then on the other hand, Luke and Leia’s deaths were just like “Phew, that took it out of me” and close eyes. Even with Fisher’s passing, it could have been a little more tragic/glorious for a central character.

people should do themselves a favour and watch clone wars, bit of a mess in the first 2-3 esason but really picks up and comes together.

the last season is currently airing and it is riveting.

Watched Revenge of the Sith on 4K tonight for the first time in a while, have to say thoroughly enjoyed it, the second half of the film is so dark and brutal, my highlights

  • On par with A New Hope as the best opening of all the movies, Battle of Coruscant is epic

  • The tragedy of Darth Plagueis story is chilling

  • Order 66 montage is brilliant, actually seeing the Clones gun down the Jedi is heartbreaking

  • The dual between Obi-Wan and Anakin is so good, as is Yoda v Sidious with the overtones of Dual of the Fates playing

  • Vader!!!

  • The Death Star shot

  • The soundtrack is fantastic and includes some awesome tracks including Anakin’s Betrayal, Anakin’s Dark Deeds, Palpatine’s Teachings, Battle of the Heroes

How can Disney fck up Star Wars? they didn’t even have to do anything new they have all this legend cannon they could have turned into movies.

Rogue One and Mandalorian are the best Disney Star Wars

You want me to get through 3 seasons to get some good stuff?

If the first 2 prequels were like Revenge the series would be amazing!

I really do love Revenge, it’s a great mix between fun action and some serious dark stuff. What the others should have been.

first 3 seasons are still alright, give good little snippets and keep getting better as they go on.

episodes are only about 20mins as well so pretty easy viewing

Okay…
I finally watched it…
But fell asleep through the middle 40 minutes around where Rey thought she killed Chewie until she healed Kylo.
Need to watch again.
I didn’t like it too much, but that’s mainly because of the Last Jedi let down.
Action scenes were great. Storyline was a bit ‘meh’ although I probably missed the important stuff.
If they ever do reboot it again, they need to get the storylines working better so that we actually care for the characters.

I’ll have to watch it again in the coming week. Also have Attack of the Clones to watch and Solo sideways story.

oh boy

My top 5 Cannon Star Wars Novels.

Starting at no. 5.
The master of strategic combat. Thrawn.

No. 4 of my best Star Wars Novels… Resistance Reborn.

The return of our favourites including Wedge Antillies, Carlist Rieekan, Nien Nunb, Shriv Suurgav & Inferno Squad.

The book that sets up the Rise of Skywalker movie.

No. 3 of the best Star Wars Novels. Master & Apprentice. Written by Claudia Gray who is the best Star Wars writer atm.

The book Follows Obi-wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn… as they explore the prophesy of the Chosen One… or Chosen Ones.

No. 2 of the best Star Wars Novels.
Black Squire was the biggest surprise. I expected to read a promotional pamphlet for Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Land… but this is a fantastic story.
It’s set just after the Last Jedi. And follows the Resistance Spy, Black Squire as she tries to negotiate with locals to set up a Resistance base.

No. 1 of my favourite Star Wars Novels.
Star Wars Bloodline. Written by Claudia Gray, who needs to write a Star Wars Movie.

Set 5-10 years before the Force Awakens. You follow Princess Leia through the political systems within the New Republic… which all comes crashing down after she’s exposed for being the Daughter of Darth Vader.

Easily the best Star Wars book, and is an excellent Political Thriller.

I watched on the weekend. I thought it was pretty rubbish. Enjoyable enough, but rubbish all the same.

And the Emperor going all Voldemort was massively lame.

The Clone Wars > anything else star wars.

If Rian Johnson didn’t kill Snoke there would have been no need to bring back Palpatine. Vaders redemption at the end of ROTJ means nothing now good job Disney lols

I finally watched it. Took advantage of the shutdown to run through 10 of the 11 movies. I skipped Solo even though I had fun with that when I did watch it, it’s not good but it is also doesn’t bother me.

I quite enjoyed the prequels but I have them in a different order than some I guess. I like the Phantom Menace the most. Revenge of the Sith gets close but only due to a few moments of narrative payoff.

Rogue One is still my favourite of the Disney movies.

I grabbed the newly remastered 4K Ultra Blurays for the original trilogy. I don’t have a 4K HDR television yet but the accompanying regular Blurays which were produced from the same restoration and preservation effort that went into the 4Ks look incredible. Even the 90s digital additions look much better than they did. They are still there though. And there’s little to no reason for most of them. Likewise Han and Greedo. George, George George - don’t you realise that was the moment that made Han’s character for the audience (edit: the panned Solo got this)? Or how close you are to a spacious western aesthetic if you don’t fill beautiful shots with throwaway digital jokes? Anyway. Boring old arguments.

They look bonkers good for ancient movies. I recommend checking out any of the new but regular Blurays, 4K Blurays, or streams built from this restoration. I felt the pull to immediately go out and buy a new television just so I could watch them in 4K HDR.

Now for the sequels and finally the Rise of Skywalker. I love a host of small character moments peppered throughout them, and I am glad I get to see them. These moments are the things that met my expectations of what would happen when Disney took over. Story-wise I don’t think you can look past how Disney has mismanaged the whole affair: Like Ivan says, apart from Rey and Ren they don’t really hang together. The Force Awakens is my favourite of the sequels, even though JJ is just really not my guy. The Last Jedi I enjoyed much more than I did originally, again for the small stuff, not the big stuff. On rewatching TLJ, and a first viewing of Rise - I think I prefer TLJ. Rian Johnson is much more bold than JJ which I can appreciate. JJ always feels like he has a fan service checklist that he runs through when he takes on these franchises. That’s not all bad, it did deliver some of my fave elements in this and the new (now old) Star Trek, but tends to see rehashing rather than vision in the storytelling.

JJ also makes the occasional strange miss-step in his storytelling imho. In TFA, for example, Kylo Ren removing his mask early for Rey rather than saving that moment for the bridge with Han remains a bizarre choice to me.

Han shouting “Ben” hits so hard that it almost lifts the entire movie into a different playing field.

That is partly because Ford really delivers and partly because Ben is so close phonetically to Ren, but so jarringly different in context. The mask removal for Han is still strong but would have been so much stronger without the earlier de-mystifying of Ren. Again, that’s another old and boring argument.

I had fun throughout, though by the end I was not watching for a story but for small moments between characters.

Digital Leia was pretty amazing. That tech has progressed quite a bit in just the few years since Rogue One.
