Only table top game i played this as a kid
One of the greatest living boardgame designers, Martin Wallace, has turned his skills to a version of Aussie Rules
Monopoly for family games
Squad leader with mates
Brilliant game for the family. Not too complex, but challenging enough to make things fun.
We’ll play this at least once a month.
Mine was similar,
I lost my original game in a move in the 90s. A few year back I decided to hunt down another 3rd edition, and it didn’t come cheap, even second hand. I’ve probably played it twice since!
Wingspan is a great upgrade when the kids are old enough.
I don’t know… having skimmed the rules, nothing looks remotely close to Aussie Rules apart from the oval pitch and perhaps the style of the jumpers. What you do in the game, the way you score and the terms used don’t seem to bare any resemblance…
Fair call, I did describe it as “a version”. It’s clearly going for an Aussie Rules feel in the imagery (jumpers, football shape) and description (combo of rugby and soccer on a cricket pitch). I realise it’s like saying there’s this great new combined arms wargame called chess.
But I mean- Martin Wallace! Brass, Conquest of the Empire 2, Fighting Fantasy Adventure game…
