Shocked….
But I thought Tasmania would take our jobs!
I guess the 2027 draft won’t be comprimised after all…
In all seriousness, I want to see Tasmania with a team. This would be a disappointing result for the game.
TL;DR Re: Stadium - The stadium is currently supported by both sides of the aisle. Greatest risk is timelines if an election occurs (and it may not even if the motion is passed), and/or a change of heart to garner political support.
They need a stadium with a roof, literally every game down there is utter windy ■■■■■ fights.
Labor prior to the last election didn’t support it, had a chat with Michelle O’Byrne and she said wanted monies put towards health instead. Then when Libs won election Labor changed their tune. Theres a new Labor leader now too. But imagine a few independents aren’t keen on stadium either, due to the cost blowout.
The timeline issue is if stadium isn’t built in time potentially voids deal, and AFL could walk away.
AFL house currently
So can nino now shut up about tasmania taking all the draft picks?
Labor reaffirms support for stadium and AFL team
By James Dunlevie
Dean Winter said Labor will confirm supply under a new premier
“Should this motion be successful, I give the full support of the Labor party for the passage of supply under a new premier,” he told parliament.
“I also reiterate that there is no question whatsoever about the support for our AFL teams and a stadium.”
This second comment drew laughter from the government benches, and shouts of “weak!”
If Tassie were building a NRL stadium, Albo would have already built is for his mate V’Landys
Very good result for us.
I would like to see Tassie with a team. But I don’t want any more than 18 teams.
Just move hawthorn there and call it a day.
Not if the NRL didn’t actually want it to go ahead.
Hope this ends up killing the Tassie team tbh
I’ve maintained from day 1 that the AFL never wanted Tassie in and put these ultimatums in place thinking it would get knocked on the head by the Tassie government straight away and were blindsided when the government caved in
Of course he would, labor governments across Australia have given nearly $1 billion to the NRL in the past 2 years.
