Tasmania - stole GWS media guy and $1B and Ken

How to ruin a whole city for a suburban football team. Well done.

What a strange comment.

You don’t think that adding that monstrosity to the waterfront of Hobart is going to completely change the dynamic and cultural feel of that town? Imagine plinking the Docklands on Ballarat or Bendigo.

If it was bringing in a shed load of money and jobs I’m sure Ballarat wouldn’t mind

It will improve that area of the city.

What was planned and for all purposes green lit before being mysteriously rejected once the AFL stink started would’ve been in operation for years now - green, various and fascinating, a stunning enlargement of a beautiful harbour precinct that honours the island’s and city’s past, present and future, incorporates the war memorial, and ties in with the other developments that have revitalised the joint far more than any govt initiative or foreign money grab ever will. A stadium will be an oversized empty shell 95% of the time with cold, windy, shadowy roads spotted by sports bars, merch and fashion shops and overpriced restaurants catering to mainstream interstaters. Like every stadium built post 1990. And Tasmanians and their kids, who already have to leave for work, will be paying enormously for it for decades. And some rich people will get richer.

Thank you for articulating my point much better than I could have

If a shedload of money was used to bring the Eastern Oval up to scratch for more spectators, I think most people would be pretty pleased to not have to drive out to Fark North City’s ground.

So you’re saying businesses in use 5% of the time would still be more productive than what is there now?

No, what was proposed, fully fleshed out, and about to go ahead would be established for some time now and yet another point of difference in a place that is seeing collapse of traditional hospitality and retail but huge tourist interest in unique industry, art offerings and events. It got pushed aside for something 65% of the state doesn’t want. Tassie is tiny, it thrives as a distinctly different place to visit, a Docklands dwarfing its outlook isn’t that. I’ve posted the info here, it’s a genuine sliding doors moment and unfortunately big boy elite sports and industry got the nod, as they usually do. They will prosper, how nice.

Let’s hope these inbreds don’t make it into the comp and the new stadium bankrupts the league.

They’ll be in the comp, but I doubt the AFL bankroll them as much as they have with GWS and GC. Probably try and get a team to merge with them and go back to 18 teams

North Essington Bomberoos?

Great content.

How likely is this to hapen. Tassie have 7 picks in the first 13, however, have to give away/trade four of these picks. You could be hating on the wrong club.
