Not great for me.
I like Hamish Davis at that pick, but perhaps for a different team. He’s a flanker with dash and endurance and a bit of magic but his kicking action is broken and needs to be rebuilt which we probably don’t need more of at this stage.
Sulzberger is a bit of a nothingburger for me. Lots of action but not the class or hurt factor of others, I think we can do better if we’re using pick 43. If we’re looking at this list and guys that are still on the board here, I’d take Ough who’s a similar type every day over Sulzberger I think he’s a much more interesting talent. I’d take Sims or Gerreyn who are both forwards who can play backup ruck so both fill a need and have exciting talent. Retschko if we want a wing with high upside.
Day-Wicks - I hope someone takes a chance on him as he does seem to have bags of untapped talent but he’s also very risky. Just went completely missing for much of the season after he came in with a pretty big reputation. I suppose I’d be okay with us looking at him, but more for a rookie spot I think.
Zak Johnson is one that I love, and if he’s there at pick 48 I’d be happy with that pick, or even early than that really. Classy and versatile type, started the year playing on ball for the knights, but nice size and strong overhead which has let him play as an intercept defender at times this season. Honestly could end up playing anywhere given he’s also played wing and as a medium forward to good effect. Also one of the youngest players in the draft with from memory a late december birthday so plenty of scope for improvement.
