A look at some of the boys who played in the U17 Futures game:
Dyson Sharp will be the reason Port would be pushing the Houston to Norf for the future 1st.
Cause him next to JHF, Rozee and Butters would make their midfield the most intimidating.
But they’ll need a top 3 pick, either to select him or to trade up to the number 1 because he won’t slide out of those positions.
I reckon part of the reason they’d want him would be as insurance for Butters heading back home to Victoria, which is often raised as a possibility, or even if he remained, I think they’d love the option of playing Rozee more as a forward.
Houston for pick 1 has gotta be a joke, even port asking for 2 second rounders is. He’s a half back flanker for crying out loud.
For the same reason I don’t get the Suns paying pick 6 for Daniel Rioli. He’s a solid half back, and 27 years old. Feels like significant overs to me.
And isn’t Merv Keane back in some capacity? Also thought we had one of Scotts mates from North days joined the team.
O’Brien is a part of the scouting team.
Sounds familiar but can’t recall if it was in an official capacity or whether we were just trying to help him ease back into work.
Either way, RFK as National Recruiting Manager would be overseeing all the talent scouts, including O’Brien.
Been waiting for this one
(Hannaford rated at 27 FWIW)
Suns are fielding offers for pick 12.
Any chance we draft Armstrong to go with Caddy and Kako?
Cats will get it for a packet of stale saladas and turn it into the Bailey Smith
I know nothing about the clubs vision but given we dropped Peter Wright for the last bit of the season and are actively looking to offload Stringer I recon theres a very good chance we either take Armstrong or Shannahan with our first pick.
Im hoping we do, because we do that and our forward line is pretty much set and forget for the next 5 years.
They met with Peter Wright to assure him he’s part of our plans going fwd, Brad Scott said the same thing towards the end of the year when Wright was in the VFL. I think 2MP will get first crack next yr as no.1 full forward.
Set and forget is pretty optimistic. We’ll have one small forward of any pedigree at all in Kako and that’s it. The rest are pretty bl00dy ordinary.
If Kako is a player like suggested I recon him and Guelfi can fill that role well enough to get the job done.
Guelfi was actually half decent when he wasnt injured this year.
Can always target other smalls in trades over the next couple of years too, they dont all have to be top 20 picks.
Would other clubs be fielding offers for our pick 8? Doesn’t look like anyone around 8 will fit our need as they are all midfielders, with the tall forwards sitting around the 13-20 range.
8 for Freos 16 + 27?
or Geelongs 15 +35?
Then we get Armstrong/Shanahan with 15/16, match an offer with later picks for Kako then use 27/35 on a half back
Also Gresham
Why not just take either Armstrong or Shanahan at 8? Which will probably be 10; anyway after brother of will and Lombard are bidded for
That might be paying overs for them?
I’m not sure this is helping his point Nino
