Are we allowed to pick our nga players before pick 40?
If so we should be drafting kakko with our 1st pick. Exactly what we need, plus he is great mates with caddy

Can’t see why not? Just we can’t match if someone else does.

The best small forward performance we’ve seen at the Champs so far. Kako seemed to be in every productive sequence in the front half for Metro, regularly providing the pivotal touch of class or burst of speed needed. He underlined his potential by snapping two excellent opportunist goals.

AFL should change the academy system to let us get Kako. This would make up for the Geelong game.

Not quite. I also want Harley Reid as a present and a guarantee that Koby Bewick can’t go anywhere else.

Give me Kako.

I need Kako.

We need an opportunistic goal scorer. What’s his pressure game like? Is he one to run down a player, a la Tippa?

He looks pretty sharp, gives me Gryan Miers vibes (might be the hair!) but he has great goal sense. Bit of a knock on his kicking but the ball seems to always go where he wants it despite sometimes looking a bit ugly.

Loves to rove a pack front on, reads the drop of the ball well.

Certainly a talent. TIPPA was one in a million, hard to compare.

Pass from me. No more players that can’t kick.

His field kicking is very good. He seems more accurate over short and medium distances, has a good eye to spot a creative option. Things get more dicey when he’s kicking set shots from 50.

He’s dropped off a little, was quite ferocious earlier in the season. His attacking game has been much more prominent at the champs.

And then there’s Isaac Kako, who continues to show Izak Rankine-like mercurialness for Vic Metro.

Kako (175cm) was again a handful for the opposition defence on the weekend, booting two breathtaking crumbing goals from 17 disposals and 12 score involvements as he caused chaos in the front half.

Blessed with speed, agility and power, Kako has a terrific athletic profile. But he has incredible goal sense and footy smarts. He’s a high-impact player, personified by the fact that 28 of his 46 disposals so far in the champs have led to Vic Metro scores – a strike-rate of 61 per cent.

“He’s going to be a player this boy,” Sheehan said of Kako.

“He’s a hard-worker up the ground and can play through the midfield. But he’s got a wonderful evasive step as well, he anticipates when a tackle might come and he’s away. He uses a change of direction so well and he’s got that innate ability around goal – he knows exactly where the goal are when he’s in range.”

The only question mark some scouts have over Kako is his defensive pressure capabilities. But some reckon his off-ball work is fine.

Kako is tied to Essendon as he’s part of the club’s Next Generation Academy. Under current draft rules – which are being assessed by the AFL this year – the Bombers can only match a bid on Kako this year if it lands outside the first 40 picks.

As one recruiter said of Kako to foxfooty.com.au on Thursday: “He’s a top-12 pick at the moment.”

If he continues to be a standout then he could end up going before we even have a pick, let alone hanging around until after pick 40.

Exactly what we need and we cant get him cause we cant bid till outside 40 yet GC is allowed to match bids inside 20

Yeah it is a shame. Still, if we get lucky he is still there at our 1st pick and we can then use that.
