How is Kako’s field kicking boys? Is it ok? And is he tough or a bit soft?
Yep.
And if we’re ‘reasonable’ on the Stringer deal (which I think we will be) we could have a ‘enemies become friends’ situation where they’d be favourable to trade with us if certain things occur.
Having said that, McCartney has been shown to be a prick to deal with. So he’s just as likely to burn us as a bit of a hazing welcoming party for Rosa to the list manager’s fraternity.
I’ve only seen the clips from @noobermensch and my take would be his field kicking is solid without being outstanding.
He’s not cutting teams to bits by foot ala Merrett, but you aren’t worried when he has to kick the ball. Those clips do show him to have pretty good vision and awareness, though.
I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes at the next level. I think he could be a genuinely exciting player to watch develop.
To add a little to this, my take is that he’s got excellent vision and creativity to hit up targets inside 50. The shorter the option the better and more accurate he is. Once it gets over 40m he has to put more bodywork into the kicking motion and tends to take a sideways step and kicks across his body to generate the distance, and it becomes significantly more variable in outcome.
@noobermensch your knowledge of these kids is outstanding. Im sure you’ve been told this already but if you haven’t consider it said.
Now that we have a raft of picks available for us this year and assuming we have to use 28 & 31 on Kako, and then of course we don’t on trade our later picks or use up for mature players, which kids do you think we could/should target with our remaining picks 40/46/54/65?
Thanks Champion !
Thanks mate, appreciate it.
Its difficult to give you a heap of names for those later picks because as I see it things start to get pretty mushy from the mid 20s onwards and it becomes more about clubs positional needs. For instance, there will be a bunch of tall forward prospects likely to fall from 25 onwards in Jonty Faull, Matt Whitlock, Tom Sims, Kayle Gerreyn and I would be surprised if one of them doesnt slide into the late 30s or even 40s as I doubt there will be that many clubs hunting a key forward at that point of the draft… but which of them is more likely to slide? I couldnt say. They’re all very similar talent level to my mind with their own specific strengths and weaknesses.
Actually its not about not being able to give you a heap of names. its more that I would have to give you 30+ names that all could be extremely draftable and solid prospects, all of which could slide into where we’re picking.
Might be easier if you give me a positional type you think we might be looking at and I can give you a few names for that position.
I would say he’s tough coz he’s solid for his age, has a good amount of muscle and not scared of contact. His kicking is decent but not great, but he’s the highest goal assist player in the competition, so he’s very clever with the ball and setting up teammates.
My take like chris is just based on noobers vids, but a slightly different thing ive observed is that his kicking doesn’t appear to dramatically fall off when hes pressured.
All good mate , I’m just happy you believe there are 30+ kids that could be solid players. We should be able to get some handy prospects.
Really pleased with how this draft is shaping up for us now, Rosa has done very well.
Dare i say it, - could this be the start of a new era !
I hope for whoever we pick the description is can run all day, has some speed and is an elite long kick of the footy.
Players with that description would be top 5 picks.
If picks in the 30s had that description, this would be labelled a super draft, not a deep draft.
We’re more likely to get 2 of those three. Maybe even 1.
Whoa!
“Can run all day, has some speed, an elite kick of the footy but has absolutely no idea what he’s doing on a football field”.
There, easy pick in the 30’s
You mean West Coast are taking a top 10 pick
lachie whitfield come on down
Less likely he lasts to Cat B then I guess.
Lucky we have loads of points to match (Hopefully we want to)
Don’t you love it when Essendon people in the media pump of our trade targets.
All the clubs would have already seen combine results. This tweet would have no impact on how other teams view Nguyen.
If he does go, it’ll be late in the draft.
Has Ed Pascoe come back to Blitz yet??
