The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Yep. Just make it so you can match with at most 2 picks. That forces at least one to be relatively close to the pick (for first rounders).

Probably have to add hind to that list, I think a lot of teams would probably have around four or five.
I think your right though that two will probably go at the end of the year

Also would Horton and Berry still be ranked ahead of Kako, or his recent form projected him higher? We need a small forward with our first pick, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be Kako.

Given Hind has played forward for us a handful of times in 4 years, no I wouldn’t categorise him as a forward.

What are his defensive efforts like?

When do we get to see him in the VFL side.

Would Kako be developed enough to play at AFL level next year?

I think yes.

Does Kako have elite speed? We need a classy small forward with wheels.

I think I recall seeing that he was a tick under the 3 second mark for the 20m sprint in preseason testing, which is very quick but not quite elite.

I don’t have Hotton and Kako in the same role personally. This might be splitting hairs a little, but I think Hotton is more of an outside midfielder than can rest forward and be damaging, or maybe a high half forward type. He’s taller and probably has more positional versatility. I do have Hotton ahead of Kako overall as a prospect.

I think Kako has out performed Berry at the Champs so far, and is decently ahead of him as the best small forward prospect in the draft pool.

I could have sworn he has played played forward most of this year

All the first games not as sub were rotating wing and half-back with Heppell.

Pls AFL change the Nga rule this year.

Is there a stated date yet for any rule changes?

AFL really needs to change that acronym!

There was a couple of games I’ll give you that for sure but a majority of the year he’s possessions have been in the offensive half and he’s at second most goals he’s had in a season

There were 6 small Forwards named above. Menzie is most at risk. The 2 Daveys are very young and should be given another year, expecially Jayden as this year is effect his first year after 2 ACLsand he is being regularly productive in goal kicking. Looks sharp and needs another year. Still - we should target Kako with our first pick.

Hotton was trending as a lock for the top 10 based on his form, the ACL will probably keep him in that 10-20 range now. I hope we can scrounge together another first and elevate a second higher up the order, Gerreyne would be a perfect ruck prospect for us.

As for midfielders in our range Harvey Langford looks a real gem, although he should be rising up the ranks into the top 10 imo doesn’t have many weaknesses as a big bodied inside mid he can kick, tackle and get forward.

Greene, Papley, Elliot, Weightman, Miers all show you can get by without elite speed if you have forward nous and some other physical gifts.

Kako isn’t slow and gets good elevation, he is also very strong for a small forward

@noobermensch how is Nguyen going at the champs?

Do you think he is doing enough to warrant a spot on the list, knowing that spots will be tight, to me he seems a better prospect than Lual and I can’t see him slipping to the rookie or Cat B list
