Trust brad scott to pull gavin urquhart out of retirement
Daniher will have a year off then come back for redemption. You heard it here first.
Anyone drafting a tall should be considering what the team will need 4-5 years from now, not next season. So, including Goldstein and Lav is a little misleading. Wright also isn’t a spring chicken.
I think you’re also understating the average number of talls in the best 23
We do not have a key forward who will give intercept defenders headaches if a high ball comes in.
Draper is the closest thing to it, and that’s why he was moved more forward late this year.
This is one of our biggest weaknesses.
Caddy will be a gun and he’ll take some speccies from time to time, but he desperately needs someone who is genuine aerial threat to take some attention away from him.
Any ideas where we are at with points of kako attracts a bid at say 8-10?
Really hoping we have enough to move out 28 or 31 for a future 2 then use a combination of future picks to trade back in to this years draft after the Kako bid.
Speaking with a coach in the talent league he reckons 10-30 will be some absolute steals.
Mentioned Taj Hotton as one he expects to slide due to injury but would’ve been right up there.
I think we should run a campaign to get him back. I knew his stuff
That’s nice for you!
Its not as though he died, he’s still out there posting plenty of draft related info and content. Go give him a follow on x/twitter: x.com
With the way the draft goes these days, we have no idea what kind of people that are in line for our picks, as we may be trading up ahead of 28/31 or they could be used to match kako bid and then we are using 40+ picks and its harder to guess who will be remaining then.
must make it had for draft expert to answer questions as basically outside of the top 15 anyone in the draft pool could be a option for us.
Just have that inkling feeling at the back of my mind that we will see where kako gets bid on in the first round, then once we know we will use one of our future firsts to trade back in.
Even though would love to have the two first rounders for next year, it would be a bold but welcome approach to do this on the night.
I truly hope not, if he gets to say 13 and hasn’t been bid on then there’s no point trading in either of the future firsts as there is a very strong chance both of those picks are top 6 picks next year
It depends who is available at 13. if it was the guy we wanted at 9, then maybe worth it, got player we wanted anyway plus picks to match Kako bid from Dees.
at 9 options were plentiful, so could easily argue guy we wanted could still be there at 13.
- Armstrong
- Shanahan
- Travaglia
- Lindsay
- Hotton
- Tauru
- Allan
- Berry
- Trainor
Just my 2 bob’s worth, knowing only as much as the average punter who is reading the experts views -
- I have Nth trading with Richmond pre draft Nth 2 for Richmond 6&18
- I have us trading out picks 28&31 for 2xF2 and attempting to trade back in after Kako bid by St. Kilda at pick 7 (8 after Ashcroft). I am predicting no takers wanting to trade out picks inside 25.
- My guess at a phantom
#1 Rich Smith
#2 Rich Lalor
#3 Carl O’Sullivan
#4 Adelaide Draper
#5 Melbourne Armstrong (?)
#6 Nth Tauru
#7 StK (bid Kako matched) Smillie
#8 StK Hotton (?)
#9 Melb Trevaglia
#10 Rich Shanahan (?)
#11 Rich Hannaford/Berry
#12 WC Allan
#13 PtA Lindsay
*14 Freo Langford
#15 GWS Reid
#16 GWS ???
#17 WB Hannaford/Berry
#18 Nth ???
#19 Sydney ???
The most significance for us is Stk bidding on Kako - if not, I see clear air until Richmond (10 or 11) then WB (17).
Also, I don’t see either of Armstrong or Shanahan being on the board for us to try to trade back in for with picks in the teens.
Most doubtful guesses in above I see as Melb 5 Armstong, StK 8 Hotton, Rich 10 Shanahan.
PS Left out Ashcroft and Lombard as being irrelevant ie just bumps everthing back.
True they may think that way, but if in isolation it was pick 13 this year or pick 5 next year it would be a bad trade for us.
Not to mention we would probably have to add a bit on top probably a third or future third
I think it will be hard to trade back in unless you overpay by a lot. Most clubs will see value up to at least about 25. Also, if we have Kako, who is it we badly want enuough to overpay to get? KP forward (Armstrong, Shanahan) might be a need, but the 25 draft is supposed to be good for KP forwards, and 2 first rounders might be worth hanging onto if that is what we are after. No-one fills the HB ball winning distributor except possibly Travaglia or Lindsay.
Solid effort, but a few points from what I’m seeing.
Melbourne supporters seem to think they won’t be after a key forward with their first pick. They apparently need quality through the midfield, and have a bunch of developing talls already that they like.
Personally I would be fine with Langford falling to 14 as I think its around about the right spot for his talent level, but I just can’t see it happening given the way people with inside info like Cal have been talking. Seems almost certain to be at least top 10 if not top 5. Murphy Reid seems to be the one more likely to slide of the two.
Just a personal belief, I know North are reportedly keen to trade back and like Tauru - but I just can’t see them doing it for only 6 + 18. Feels like significant unders to me.
I agree it will habe to be big overs and hope we don’t burn either potentially top 10 pick to do so.
If by some miracle someone accepts an offer of 2x 2nds or a mix of 2nd + later picks, for something around pick 20 odd, then I’d be ok with that
Travaglia must be good if you’ve named him twice!!
