The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Very interesting Cal has Kako and Hotton at 14 & 15 respectively. Both highly rated as the best 2 small forwards with Hotton showing a bit more as a mid. From memory he was rated higher than Kako for a fair chunk of his juniors.

I wonder if we could have taken Hotton at 9 and been able to gather another points later on for a Kako bid? All ifs, buts and maybes, I feel we are in a good spot with picks but would have completely changed our forward line.

Got to give me a break, it’s too damn early in the morning to figure out which bloody thread I’m in. I’m lucky I’m typing English at this point in time. At least you didn’t call me champ.

Everyone enjoy their day!

Zero hanger phantom has Demons picking Kako with the pick we traded to them, that would burn.

We already have Saad, we are getting Kako and a good chance to pick up Nguyen as well in this draft. We should look at other needs besides another small forward such as Hotton.

I sure we have a ‘deal’ with Melbourne that they won’t bid on Kako.

I’d bid on Kalani white next year with their own first if they do that

Yeh I Imagine we do, just need to get past saints, then richmond.

Saad is a half back/ wingman not a small forward. though could play HFF.
Nguyen back pocket/mid before being a small fwd.

Hotton or Hannaford would still fill a need.

Nguyen is 177, I think that is too small to play anywhere but as a small forward. We may take him as a rookie but i think that is his only chance. He is quick so that is a positive

These mock drafts are based on someones opion, not on any credible information. Only good as toilet paper

I dunno, you’ve got Daniel (168), D’Ambrosio (178), Saad (178) who have all shown they can be rebounding defenders where speed is more important than height. If we can match him at like pick 55 for peanuts I think we’d do it, and rookie him if not

Take the small forwards out and the list is pretty unimpressive.

I don’t mind the idea of trading back in the 18-21 range if these guys are available

Hotton
Lindsay
Shanahan
Berry

Prestia Premiership player and Zorko - half back in flag go alright too.

Not sure that’s fair, these people put varying amounts of effort, some put hours and hours in to bring us their opinion, and they’re lapped up because we have an appetite for it. No ones mock draft should be treated as toilet paper.

Obviously not an expert in these players …

but my impression from reading around is some view him as the best KF. Given that, it then becomes a question of if a team who has multiple picks in the middle of the first round believes that (he’s the best KF), and really really needs a young tall forward, is it worth going that route and getting who (they believe) is the best one even if its 5-10 spots early?

I mean you could trade back, but then if someone else nabs him you’re left with whoever you rate as the second best KF, who maybe you rate a few spots further back again.
