The 2024 Draft [no longer spec] Thread

Could end up just as bad.
Unlikely, but geez alot of people on here seem to think every fresh draftee is a guaranteed star.

We played it just as well I think.

What brisbane have done well is seeing Marcus ashcroft have two incredible sons. Both twice as good as their old man by the look of it.(and he was decent)

Honestly after Harley going down in preseason with a concussion makes him a little worry

Brisbane played it a little better, matching Ashcroft bumped up their picks to match Marshall which then bumped their live remaining picks up.

They were just in a better position to do it
Absolutely no complaints with what we’ve done though

You don’t know what would have happened
You’re just quoting the club line that what the rookie recruiter did was a good thing
When it was amateur hour

Am sure they’ve already lodged next years request

Yeah hes a jet. If he leaves North a few clubs will be interested.

That’s a stat I really hate because three of those this year were other clubs scraps in wright Weid and setters

Twomey just touched on it, but Brisbane and GC have had the better part of 2 years to prepare for any academy players coming through.

The change to the NGA rules means we’ve had since August to do the same.

Cal & Riley saying again that the bid would’ve come before 9 (ended up being 11) for Kako if we’d kept the pick. “Almost certain of that”.

Sure, guys like Cal Twomey and Riley Bevridge among many others that have been around the draft business for years are all saying that it was necessary and the right thing to do…

But I’m sure you know better than all of them mate.

They knew what they had in Ashcroft. Always had the draft capital organised.

The Richmond Brisbane pick swap happened early for a reason and was a good deal.

Let’s say Richmond finish last next year which is obviously best case for north. It gets north pick 19 but pick 19 turned into pick 29 today and next year meant to have even more academies and father sons.

lol north are f’d

Probably trust the people that were actually having conversations with the other clubs rather than random bloke on an internet forum.

Who’s left on the table for us at our next pick that you like

Cool. Just got home and working out what happened and what the options are.

Factoring in the Kako bid, our trading improved our position from:
40, 46, 53, 54, 65
To:
35, 37, 47, 65

Which after more bids pushed stuff around became:
37, 39, 43, 60

If StK get forced to bid before our pick, all ours go up by 1.
If Carlton get forced to bid, our first 2 are unchanged, 43>42 and 60>59.

Basically I don’t see any more big shifts from here out unless we trade.

Maybe Whitlock is a gun. Who knows.

Its Norf.

Must be hard work being a fan of theirs. And thats saying something as someone who supports Essendon

Yeah he could be but still could’ve got more from Richmond in the trade.

You’re leaving out the fact we now have another 1st next year. Magicked out of thin air, thanks to Melbourne.
