Roughly something like that
Thirds seem to be fairly fluid
Seconds not so much
Doable IMO

Don’t they have a few NGA players high up next year so they will probably need to move them next year.
I would try and use a future first to get one off them and guarantee three firsts next year before Tasmania comes in
How many top talent left on the board… we still have to wait 9 picks to be taken, so hopefully there is about 15 odd good players still available.
If we kept what ended up being pick 11, Tigers would be motivated to bid on Kako at 7 (instead of 13), as it essentially bumps their picks 12, 14, etc up a spot.
I will admit, I expected us to trade more picks into 2025, and match on Kako with later picks…
Our actions may have caught other teams out…combined with the Ashcroft slide…some clubs have been left with bundles of late picks, that they might have preferred to use to move up the draft order:
Shanahan or Whitlock, which one would be better to partner with Caddy? I seriously can’t decide. Whitlock has the height and is a very good field kick, but Shanahan has a more solid build and seems a better mark.
Because since the rules change this year to how it used to be previously, teams did exactly what we did… traded out our pick so it didnt get absorbed. Im not sure how hard that is for you to understand that? I feel like people here are still dumbfounded with how it all works ONTOP of thinking we didnt do well with turning KAKO a top 13 player from pick 9 into him, a future 1st and extra change via other swap deals… with what we had to what we did we definitely ended up in a better position considering.
Will some of you wake up and smell the Rosa’s please🙏
So how do we get Shanahan now?
One of those tall forwards would be good to stockpile for a few years time.
None of the teams ahead of us need tall forwards.
I think Saints and Port are a strong chance to take him. Not sure he gets to us either…we’ll see. Not that fussed as we have other needs too so landing a decent mid sized defender wouldn’t hurt and some more outside run either.
We need half backs and smaller forwards. If we get Jobe as a slider all the better
Regardless of whether we ■■■■ the bed or not, how can anyone call it a blunder without at least seeing the players play first?
Even I wait for a player to play a single game before I call for their heads.
You can find exactly the same discussion in the talk before 2020, with a bid to wipe out Sydney’s pick that they got Logan MacDonald with.
As I said, it could have happened and I’ve no doubt clubs would have considered it, but when they were faced with bidding on Kako when Josh Smilie was still on the board the recruiting manager would have taken the player they rated significantly higher.
If someone rated Kako at 7 or 8, then fine. And if they did they would have bod either way. .
It’s discussed every year, but clubs rarely bid on a guy to fk with another club. They bid when they get to the point where the player is clearly the best left and fits their need. No one wants to be stuck with a player they don’t really want and who doesn’t want to be there.
Mick Ablett on SEN soon for anyone wanting to hear someone going full r*****.
Tempted, but if we have 9 they have to rate Kako because the risk is that we pass to get a player we rate higher and they get a player they rate lower. It’s high stakes
And just for clarity, I don’t think our move was a bad one. I think it was the right move.
Its why using solid data foundations to decision making is so important. An areas Essendon appears to have lacked for a very long time.
Just thank god We don’t have Brady Rawlings as our list manager. Just loves a midget midfield it doesn’t he?
