They effectively only gave up picks in the 30s & 40s: not quite junk picks, but certainly not blue chip.
Also backing themselves their 2025 pick will be closer to 15 than 9.

Well no, and that’s not what I was suggesting. My suggestion is that Adrian has built a reputation of being difficult to deal with and bidding on other clubs academy/F-S players so now Matt is going to have to navigate the backlash to that.

Broadly speaking - picks in hand when you know what you are going to get are valued higher than future picks which are more uncertain. There would have been other suitors for our pick 9 in trade period and last night. When you have multiple prospective buyers the price goes up. There are always clubs looking for top 10 picks either to use in trade or to take to the draft. So no I don’t agree this will lower the value of trading for first round picks in the future.

I might be harsh here but I don’t see a player in Davis, poor kick of the footy and looks very panicky
You know what i realised watching last night. How boring the draft has become coz Cal tells us the top of the order place for place, practically every year, two nights out. I was thinking to myself, he’s an afl employee and it kinda takes away from the night. Well not kinda, it does.

We very clearly set about accumulating a set of picks to actually use in the 30’s whilst still getting Kako . This feels methodical and deliberate, an actual aim. I won’t be surprised if we take a few players from “left field” , if it’s as planned as I suspect from Rosa and Vozzo then imo we’ll have been watching players slightly off the main board for many “experts” .
