They effectively only gave up picks in the 30s & 40s: not quite junk picks, but certainly not blue chip.
Also backing themselves their 2025 pick will be closer to 15 than 9.

Are the clubs 1, 2 & 3 on that list unable to trade because of it?
Unable to trade because they bid a lot?
Sure. I want our club to get the best for free and manipulate everything for our best interests though lol.
Rumour has it Mick Ablett just witnessed having an argument with a guy after mocking him for taking out car insurance only to not smash his car over the course of the policy.
Yes
It’s a problem for Essendon being 4th on that list
So presumably 1, 2 & 3 can’t trade at all?
Well no, and that’s not what I was suggesting. My suggestion is that Adrian has built a reputation of being difficult to deal with and bidding on other clubs academy/F-S players so now Matt is going to have to navigate the backlash to that.
Well that hasn’t worked for almost 25 years, so hopefully Matt can help turn it around.
I think cal may have had us linked to Davis and Clarke predraft
Broadly speaking - picks in hand when you know what you are going to get are valued higher than future picks which are more uncertain. There would have been other suitors for our pick 9 in trade period and last night. When you have multiple prospective buyers the price goes up. There are always clubs looking for top 10 picks either to use in trade or to take to the draft. So no I don’t agree this will lower the value of trading for first round picks in the future.
It creates a bidding process, as St. Kilda also wanted our first rounder.
blah blah blah, same people, same arguments and nothing to add, just carrying on for the sake of it.
We are getting Jobe tonight. I can feel it.
I might be harsh here but I don’t see a player in Davis, poor kick of the footy and looks very panicky
You know what i realised watching last night. How boring the draft has become coz Cal tells us the top of the order place for place, practically every year, two nights out. I was thinking to myself, he’s an afl employee and it kinda takes away from the night. Well not kinda, it does.
Ok we have 3 of the next 16 picks. Any rumours of who we are interested in?
We very clearly set about accumulating a set of picks to actually use in the 30’s whilst still getting Kako . This feels methodical and deliberate, an actual aim. I won’t be surprised if we take a few players from “left field” , if it’s as planned as I suspect from Rosa and Vozzo then imo we’ll have been watching players slightly off the main board for many “experts” .
Just chatting, no arguing?
As long as they’re competitive and got abit of ticker……. That’s the main thing.
You’ve been on blitz for 21 years. Surely the daftness of people isn’t surprising anymore?
